SUBTECIC: City -]caned Vacant Lot
Dear Mr. Reierson:
I received a copy of the letter you sent to Councilman Fitzpatrick regarding the
City -owned lot on the corner of Broad and Lafayette Streets.
The City Public Works Department attempts to monitor vacant lots in the City.
This includes both public and private lots. Ubenever an accumulation of
refuse/trash dumping has occurred, we attempt to work with the property owner
and clean up the sites as much as possible in an attempt to remove the impression
of the vacant property being an acceptable dump site.
Based upon our limited personnel and financial resources, we are not able to
clear and grubb vacant lots in order to provide a more attractive appearance and
greater visibility into the property.
We will attempt to periodically monitor this site and if we observe any trash
or debris dumped on the site, we will remove it. We hope that by taking this
action we will prevent the appearance of inviting dumping of material on the
property.
I thank you for your past interest and participation in clearing up the site and
attempting to improve the appearance and aesthetics of the neighborhood. If you
desire to clear, grubb and remove some of the woody growth on the property, you
may do so, but the City cannot participate in that effort at this time.

Dear Mr. Fitzpatrick
I would like your assistance in getting the City of Fridley to be a
good neighbor and clean up their property at the corner of Broad and
Lafayette St., lot #26. This lot, because of the brush and trees has
become an attractive spot for people to dump their brush and trash. I
would be willing to cut the brush and help clean it up if the city
would haul it away. I already spent $350.00 of my money to haul brush
and trash out of this lot, but with the high property tax bill I got
this year I can not afford to spend anymore. If this lot is cleaned up
I don't think people will use it for a dump anymore.
