As you requested, I have investigated the parking complaint referenced in the attached letter. Please refer to the attached police report in which Officer Morse indicated that this vehicle was legally parked and not creating a hazard. The vehicle registration revealed that the truck is licensed for 12,000 lbs., which is the maximum allowed on residential streets. It does not appear as though the property owner is committing any type of violation. Another issue raised through this complaint involves a sign posted on Liberty Street. This sign has a picture of a truck with a line through it, presumably indicating that trucks are not permitted on this street. From the complainant's letter, it is my opinion that some residents may consider that this sign prohibits all trucks. I have spoken with Dave Sallman and John Flora, and based on these conversations, it seems that the City did not post this sign, nor is it enforceable in any way. Given this fact, I would recommend that the City remove this sign from the boulevard. If I receive future complaints concerning on -street parking at this location, I will refer them to the Police Department since they are responsible for such matters.
