BUILDING PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE
Section 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before is- sng any permit for
the erection of any building or structure, or for any addition to any exist-
ing building or structure,,or for any alterations or repairs to any existing
building or structure, upon application therefor, require the payment by the
applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein below set forth and
in the manner herein provided to -wit:
2.1. For any such permit for the erection of any fire -proof building, other
than a garages warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of
any fire -proof addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building
shall be at the rate of $1,40 for each one thousand cubic feet, or fraction
thereof, in such cubical contents.
2.2. For any such permit for the erection of any fire -proof garage, warehouse,
factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of any fire -proof addition,
for similar occupancy, to any existing building shall be at the rate,of $1.25
for each one thousand cubic feet, classified as "fireproof9° by Sectio 502 of
the Minneapolis Building Code.
HOUSES
2.3. For any such permit for the erection of any non -fireproof building other
than a garage, warehouse, factory or grain elevator,.or any non -fireproof
addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building - permit $1.00 for
each one thousand cubic feet.
GARAGES
2.4. For any such permit for the erection of any non -fireproof garage,
warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of any non -fireproof
addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building or for each such
building or addition - ninety cents ($0.90) for each one thousand cubic feet
or fraction thereof, in the cubical contents thereof with a minimum of $4.00.
For the purpose of computing fees for building permits, the cubical contents
of any building or addition to a uniform height throughout by multiplying the
ground area covered from a.point.six (6) inches below the floor line of the
basement or cellar to the average height of the upper surface or to the
average height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
2.5. For repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be
at the rate of $3.00 per each Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or fraction
thereof in the cost of all proposed work.
2.6. In no case shall the fee charged for any permit as set forth in
Section 2 be less than $4.00,

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Benser,
It has been brought to our attention that the existing fence
encompassing your rear yard extends beyond your rear lot.line
and encroaches upon the 12 foot public alley right-of-way which
is established for public access. After a preliminary survey
was conducted by our office, it was determined that your fence
extends approximately 6 ft. into the alley right-of-way which
is a violation of City Ordinance No. 213.05 which states:
All fences must be located entirely upon the private
property of the person, firm or corporation construct-
ing the same or causing the fence to be so constructed
and erected, except that adjoining property owners
may agree in writing that said fence shall be located
on the division line of their said properties.
Presently there are only two options available to solve this
problem. Either the fence must be relocated to your rear
property line, or a request (attachment) to have the alley
vacated must be submitted to the City for processing. If the
alley is vacated, half of the right-of-way that abutts your
property would revert to your clear ownership, with the City
retaining a utility and drainage easement upon which, fences
and planting are permissable.
On the attached vacation request form, a $40.00 fee is indicated
for this processing. This fee is a one time charge for vacating
all or part of the alley and such fee may be shared by any or
all concerned property owners. Any request for the vacation
should be sent to the attention of Mr. Darrel Clark, Community
Development Administrator.
In any event, either the fence relocation or the vacation request
must be undertaken by June 2, 1975. If any further clarification
is needed, please contact Mr. Clark or myself.

The Assessor's Office was notified of a complaint about the property adjacent
to 159 Longfellow in late March of this year. We inspected the property on
April 2 and found some minor deficiencies.
1. Unscreened dumpster
2. Equipment higher than the fence.
After the City Council meeting of May 21, 1984, we reinspected this property
(140 Liberty Street) and found the same deficiencies, plus a few more, to
include a waste spill. A letter was dispatched on Friday requesting corrective
action be taken by June 8, 1984.
In addition, the Anoka County Health Department, Environmental Services was notified
of the waste spill on May 22, 1984, and requested to take appropriate action.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Bensen:
The City of Fridley has established a City Code for the purpose of
promoting a pleasant and attractive suburban environment. A recent
inspection of the property at 154 Longfellow Street N.E. revealed
that not all Code requirements are presently being met. Listed
below are items which do not comply with the City Code:
1. Fridley City Code requires that all vehicles must be currently
licensed/street operable and kept on a hardsurface parking
area if they are stored outside. I observed a black truck and
a white vehicle parked to the east of the driveway which do
not fully meet these requirements.
Your prompt attention in correcting this situation would greatly
assist us in helping make Fridley a better place to live. An
inspection will be conducted on or shortly after July 18, 1995 to
determine compliance.
