Dear Mr. Weeldreyer:
in order to provide safe passage for vehicular and pedestrian traffic in
the City of Fridley, periodic inspections of street intersections are
conducted. An inspection on June 30, 19.81 and again on July 9, 1981 has
determined that the sight line for the intersection on your property is
obstructed and could present a hazard to traffic.
Section 205.154 of the City Code requires that, "On a corner lot in a
vision safety control zone, nothing shall be erected, placed, planted or
allowed to grow in such a manner as to impede vision..., the vision
safety control zone is- described as follows: That area bounded by the
street right of way lines of a corner lot and a -straight line joining
points on said right of way lines twenty five (25)_ feet from -the inter-
section of said right of way lines."
Therefore, the City is requesting you, the property owner, to correct the
following problem and make the City's streets safer for travel. A
reinspection will be conducted on or about July 20, 1981 to determine
compliance. We are confident in your cooperation to correct this matter
and if any questions.or problems. result from this. letter, please contact
me at 571-3450.

RE: Plantings at the Corner of Matterhorn Drive and 53rd Avenue
Dear Mr. Weeldreyer,
An inspection of your property at 5286 Matterhorn Drive revealed that
shrubbery on your lot planted at the corner of Matterhorn Drive and 53rd
Avenue pose a potential safety hazard. These bushes block the view of
northbound traftic on Matterhorn Drive for drivers traveling eastbound on
53rd Avenue.
I have enclosed a copy of the Fridley Code as it pertains to plantings on
corner lots. As you can see from this document, a clear zone from 30 inches
to seven feet in height is required on corner lots in the vision safety zone.
Please trim these corner bushes so that they are less than 30 inches in
height. This will help make travel through this intersection more safe. I
will conduct a tollow-up inspection on June 10, 1987 to determine compliance.

corner of your property appear to be causing a vision obstruction
at the intersection of 53rd Avenue/Matterhorn Drive. They extend
into what is called the "Vision Safety Zone" (see attached
definition) restricting a clear sight path for motorists eastbound
on 53rd Avenue at this intersection.
