Dear Ms. Reavis:
Thank you for your letter of February 6, 1994, regarding traffic conditions on
Cherri Lane. I have had the Public Safety Director and the Public Works
Director review the situation. Additionally, I visited the location and viewed the
area.
After discussing the matter with City staff, we decided to do the following:
1. We have voluntarily moved some of the snow that is causing the
sight distance problem at the Menard's exit.
2. Our code enforcement officer has been asked to send a letter to
Menard's warning them about pushing snow into the street and
about the height of the snow banks they are creating on their
property.
3. We w;ll install signs on either side of Cherri Lane near the
appruach to the Menard's exit warning oncoming traffic of the
hidden driveway.
4. As time permits, we will provide additional police patrol for this
location.
At this time, we do not think that the situation warrants a three-way stop. I
would also like to point out that in the past, we have worked with Menard's to

move the intersection, and believe that through these efforts the exit has
actually been improved. Admittedly, there are still some problems, and we will
do our best to address them.

RE: Drainage
Dear Mrs. Reavis,
I forwarded your concern regarding water pooling in front of your mailbox to Jon
Haukaas, Director of Public Works. Mr. Haukaas viewed the situation and has advised
me that there isn't a cost effective solution to the drainage problem at this time, as any
solution would require a large portion of the cul-de-sac be reconstructed. Reconstruction
of the cul-de-sac and the location of the drain inlet would also negatively impact your
neighbor's driveway. Within the next couple of weeks all City streets will be swept and
cleaning the accumulation of sand from the gutters should help a little. The City will
continue to view the drainage problem periodically and if the problem worsens
alternatives will be reassessed.
