A. PUBLIC PURPOSE SERVED BY REQUIREMENT:
Section 205.053, (4B) Two side yards are required with not less than
a 10 feet width adjoi.ning living area.
Public purpose served by this requirement is to maintain a minimum of
20 feet between living areas in adjacent structures and 15 feet between
garages and living areas in adjacent structures to reduce exposure to
conflagration of fire. It is also to allow for aesthetically pleasing
open areas around residential structures.
B. STATED HARDSHIP:
We want the variance request agreed upon to first of all make it easier
for Mr. Laurent, who is physically disabled, by this eliminating of a*flight
of stairs; and also to expand our family living space.
C. ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF REVIEW:
A letter from the most affected neighbor was submitted with the application.
The letter states that they have no objection to the petitioner's request.
It•should also be noted that the nearest neighboring structure is an
attached garage located 10 feet from the common property line. If the
Commission votes to approve this request, the staff has no stipulation
that it would recommend as part of the approval.

Avenue northeast at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, December 12, 1978, in regard to

of the Fridley City Code, to allow the conversion
