Fridley, MN 55432 Re: Intersection Vision Safety Zone Obstruction Dear Ms. Taklo: TELEPHONE ( 812)571-3460 In order to provide safe passage for vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the City of Fridley, periodic inspections of street intersections are conducted. An inspection on August 19, 1980 has determined that the intersection on your property is obstructed and could present a hazard to traffic. Section 205.154 of the City Code requires that, "On a corner lot in a vision safety control zone, nothing shall be erected, placed, planted or allowed to grow in such a manner as to impede vision..., the vision safety coi.trol zone is described as follcws: That area bounded by the street right of way lines of a corner lot•and a straight line joining points on said right of.way lines twenty five (25) feet from the inter- section of said right of way lines." Therefore, the City is requesting you, the property owner, to correct the following problem and thereby make the City's streets safer for travel. A reinspection will be conducted on or about September 2,: 1980 to determine compliance. We are -confident in your cooperation to correct this matter and if any questions or problems result from this letter, please contact me at 571-3450. The inspection of your lot indicated that the following obstruction existed and should be corrected: Shrub(s) or bush(es) growing into sight line - trim down or back Tree branches growing into sight line - trim up v v-( -'ac ?-,-J5 Y Hedge growing into sight line - trim down or back (7c 1 JJ'Lr 6AO^- Fence extending into sight line - lower or remove - Other Sincerely, STEVE J. Dear Ms. Taklo: On July 1, 1990, the City of Fridley began a new program called Systematic Code Enforcement. This program is designed to provide fair and equitable code enforcement, improve the City's appearance, and maintain property values by creating a more attractive suburban environment. Under this program, all properties in the City will be inspected approximately once each year to ensure that they are in compliance with the Fridley City Code. A recent inspection of your property revealed that not all Code requirements are presently being met. Listed below are item(s) which do not comply with the Code: 1. Discontinue outside storage of wood located along south side of driveway. (Fridley Zoning Code does permit storage of stacked firewood in the side or rear yard.) Your prompt attention in correcting this problem would help us in our effort to improve the City. A reinspection will be conducted on or about August 23, 1990, at which time compliance is anticipated. Please call me at 572-3595 if you have questions or wish to discuss this further. Thanks for your cooperation! Sincerely, Steven Barg Code Enforcement Officer SB:ls C-90-591 Aw CIiYOF FRIDLEY FRIDLEY MUNICIPAL CENTER • 6431 UNIVERSITY AVE. N.E. Fridley, MN 55432 RE: Noncompliance of Fridley City Code 105 (Weeds) on the Following Property: Location: 5500 Matterhorn Drive N.E. Legal Description: Lot 13, Block 4, Innsbrook North Property I.D. No.: 24-30-24-42-0051 Dear Ms. Taklo: Fridley City Code 105 (copy enclosed) states that it is unlawful to maintain land in the City upon which weeds, grass, or rank vegetation exceeds ten (10) inches in height; or other noxious growth exists as outlined in the ordinance. This was enacted to protect the health and safety of the community and its residents. A recent inspection of the above referenced property revealed conditions which are not in compliance with this ordinance. It is important that you take appropriate steps to correct this situation immediately. I will conduct a reinspection on or shortly after June 22, 1993, at which time full compliance is expected. Should this deficiency still exist, I will instruct the City's Public Works Department to abate the condition. In the event the City abates the condition, you will be served a notice in writing indicating the work performed and the costs and expenses involved. The total amount must be paid to the City within 30 days after this notice or before the following October 1, whichever is later. If this is not done, the costs and expenses shall become a lien in favor of the City; and a 15% penalty will be added to the amount due as of the date, with the total costs, expenses, and penalty thereupon to be certified to the County Auditor for entry on the tax books as tax against the land. Please call me at 572-3595 if you have questions or wish to discuss this further. Thank you for your cooperation! This obstruction extends into what is called the "vision safety zone" (see enclosed definition) restricting a clear sight path for motorists at this intersection. Please take the appropriate action to remove all obstructions from the vision safety zone. I will be reinspecting on or shortly after October 2, 1996, at which time compliance is expected. Upon inspection, I observed portions of a small retaining wall in a state of disrepair and dilapidation and portions of a fence in partial disrepair. As the City Code requires properties with in -ground pools to be completely fenced and protected with self -latching gates, I am requesting that, as mutual property owners, you review the conditions of the retaining wall and fence and proceed with a mutually -acceptable plan for repair and/or replacement. Enclosed is a copy of the fence ordinance. The ordinance requires that all fence materials must be constructed using substantial construction methods so as not to become in a state of disrepair. As the fence is in need of repair and the retaining wall may have affected the condition of the fence, it is appropriate that both property owners pursue a remedy to this situation. Please remove or repair the retaining wall so that it has no affect on any future fence construction. Please repair or replace the fence so the pool is adequately protected. If you have any questions or concerns about these requirements, please contact me at 572- 3595. Again, I encourage both of you to discuss this matter, clarify the lot line location, and maintain the retaining wall and fence.
