Holden, Building Inspection Officer MEMO DATE: December 13, 1976 REGARDING: 5663 Matterhorn Drive Ceiling Height Final inspection of 5663 Matterhorn Drive revealed one Code violation which is economically unfeasible to correct. The ceiling height in the basement (walk -out) bedrooms has been reduced to only 6 feet 9 inches. UBC Section 1407 (a) requires that... "in no case shall the height of a furred ceiling be less than 7 feet". Apparently the builder has been uncler the impression that the single family dwelling code requirement of a 6 foot 8 inch minimum height was adequate. This is not so, and the builder has been informed, but to remedy the situation would cost several thousand dollars and in as much as no safety factors in the room are affected, it is my opinion that the matter be noted, but not enforced in this particular case.
