Dear Mr. Sta ce :
This letter is to make clear this department's requirements for the swimming pool
construction at the above address.
1. As indicated, one (1) skimmer approved by the National Sanitation Foundation
will be provided.
2. As indicated, one (1) inlet of approved design for fresh and/or repurified
water will be provided.
3. As indicated, a main drain of approved construction will be provided.
4. The filter and pump shall be approved by the N.S.F. and be of sufficient
capacity to provide a minimum turnover of at least two (2) times in 24 hours.
This departzert recommends a turnover rate of 6 - 8 hours.
5. A deck of at least three (3) feet wide, measured from the pool waters edge,
shall be provided which extends completely around all private residential pools.
Above ground private residential pools may be provided with decking of a minimum
size of 4 feet by 4 feet at pool entry points and provided that such decking has
the approval of the City.
6. Fencing or other effective means including but not limited to walls or
buildings, acceptable to the City, shall be provided to positively control all
access to public and private residential swimming pools. Fencing shall meet the
following criteria:
(a) The fencing shall prevent the entrance of children and be without hand or
foot holds that would enable a person to climb over it.
(b) The fencing shall be at least 6 feet high and entrances shall be equipped
with self-closing and self -latching gates capable of being locked.
(c) Self-closing and self -latching devices shall be placed at the top of the
gate or otherwise inaccessible to small children.
(d) The opening between the bottom of the fence and the ground or other
surface shall be not more than four inches.

7. An automatic chlorinator should be provided With a suitable test kit.
8. All electrical and plumbing installations shall be inspected and approved by
the City Inspection Department.
9. All overhead electrical lines must be a minimum of 10 feet horizontally from
the pool surface, and 18 feet straight line distance from the waters edge. An
alternative is to bury said lines.
10. The pool fill spout must be protected by a vacuum breaker or air -gapped.
11. Suitable safety equipment to include but not limited to a ring buoy and rope
that is 1-1/2 times the pool diameter and shepherds crook pole must be provided
and maintained with the pool at all times.
Furthermore, these and any other requirements must meet the provision- of the
Fridley City Code, Section 115, Swimming Pools. The building permit is approved
contingent on final inspections and approval of the City.

BEFORE INSTALLATION BE SURE TO READ ALL
INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS CAREFULLY.
INSPECTION
Examine the equipment when received. Notify your delaer
of any damage or missing parts. Verify that equipment is
of size and model specified.
INSTALLATION LOCATION
Locate pump as close to pool/spa as possible preferably in
e dry, well ventilated area away from direct sunlight. It
4hould be on a hard, level surface. Give consideration to:
1) drainage - away from pump; 2) ventilation of pump
motor; and 3) access for future servicing and winterization.
•
NOTE: Two -speed pumps have reduced priming capability
at low speed. Consequently pump should be located as
.close to pool or spa as possible and elevation should be
no more than two feet above water level. when priming
at low speed.
PLUMBING
All Series L pumps have I'V' pipe bosses, these may be
either threaded, slip or union connections depending on
model. Suction pipe should be as large or larger than
discharge pipe.
Keep the piping as straight and short as possible, and of
suitable size. Arrange horizontal runs to- slope upward to
the pump. Keep as much of the suction line as possible
below the water level to reduce priming time. Install valves
and unions in the pump suction and return lines close to
the filter system to facilitate servicing. Valves are recom-
mended for throttling the pump discharge. The valves are
essential for pump maintenance if the system is installed
below deck level. Keep the valve in the suction line fully
open during operation and check that the gland is kept
properly tightened to prevent the entry of air around the
valve stem. Keep the pipes free of pebbles, sand, scale, and
thread chips during installation.
Use pipe fittings and pipe designed for use with PVC or
polyethelene pipe. Use pipe compounds formulated for use
with plastics. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN — HAND
TIGHTEN PLUS 11z TURN WITH PIPE PLIERS IS
SUFFICIENT.
Rigid or flexible 1'h" PVC pipe can be used. Pipe ends
should be clean and free of any flash caused by the cutting
operation. Be sure that the proper adhesive is used on the
type of pipe as specified.

NOTE: A primer will assure that adhesive joints are
superior. Sureguard P-3000 has a purple tracer to qualify
in areas where codes specify a primer must be used.
CAUTION: We recommend that you consider climatic
conditions when applying adhesives. Certain atmospheric
situations, such as high moisture contents, make the
adhesive action of certain glues less effective. Check the
manufacturer's instructions.
ELECTRICAL DATA
Information on motor nameplate should correspond to
voltage, phase and cycle of electrical supply. All motors
require fused disconnect switch or circuit breaker and
ground fault circuit interrupter. Be sure wire size is
sufficient for pump HP and distance from power source.
Wiring should be done in accordance with local code by
competent electrician.

5) When the water has reached a level above the cove, remove top rails and secure liner to the top
of the metal wall as descrihed in the instructions. A professional installation may be realized by
smoothing out the wrinkles in the wall, and doubling over the excess material over the wall
before attaching the blue coping. Replace top rails as you work around the pool.
You are suppled with decals to be placed on the pool. The positioning of these decals is sel f -ex plana troy
except that the decal "no diving — jumping" is best affixed on the vinyl liner above water level and
below the top rail.

INSTUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING LINER WITH DEEP SWIMMING AREA
Seaspray-Shark line has supplied you with this deep swimming area liner to further enhance vour
enjoyment of its product. This area has not been designed to be a diving or jumping area, and its
use for diving or jumping can lead to physical injury.
DO NOT DIVE OR JUMP INTO YOUR POOL
1) Complete all steps in the instructions until reference is made to install liner. Do not install liner,
but continue to set up pool as per instructions. Entire frame and the metal wall should be
installed before starting on these instructions.
2) Excavate the deep swimming area according to dimensions shown in diagram of your pool size.
The G" area long the circumference of the pool has been alloted for the earth coving that is
required. Protect the entire area with sifted earth. Dampen and tamp earth to prevent shifting
and to remove footprints.
3) Unroll the liner in the pool. Initially. the seam of the liner at the circumference should be
resting on the cove. The wall of the liner should be positioned over the top rails and secured
with a piece of rope. Using excess liner material from the entire circumference, drop liner into
excavated area.
4) Start the water, and as you fill the excavated area, smooth away as many wrinkles as possible.
Since the liner is not custom fitted to the excavation, there will be some wrinkles.
