Earlier today I received a copy of a letter (copy attached) sent this week to Councilmember Schneider concerning outside storage of windows in the rear yard of the above referenced location. I contacted the complainant and met her at her residence. She pointed out the extensive pile of old windows, approximately eight feet in height, stored near the rear of the residence directly north of her house. I sent a letter instructing the property owner in noncompliance to correct this violation by December 9, 1991. I will reinspect the site on this date, and further action will be taken if the outside storage remains. I will keep you posted on the status of this matter. At that time, I agreed to grant you an extension of time to comply with the Fridley City Code by removing the large pile of windows in the rear yard. Currently, most of this area is covered with snow and ice, making removal extremely difficult. You should take action to remove windows during such times as weather and the conditions in your yard permit. I will conduct an inspection on or shortly after April 15, 1992, at which time compliance is expected. Should this deficiency still exist, legal action will be approved. On November 22, 1991, I sent a letter to the owner of the above referenced property for outside storage of numerous old windows piled in the rear yard. This resulted from an inspection conducted after receiving a copy of written complaint sent to C'ouncilmember Schneider. Shortly after this letter was sent, the Thanksgiving snowstorm buried these materials. I met with the property owner at his residence on December 26, 1991, at which time I determined that the windows would be extremely difficult to remove due to snow and ice; however, the majority of the materials are no longer visible since they are covered with snow. I granted an extension until April 15, 1992, for the property owner to remove all the windows. (A copy of the extension letter is attached.) I have advised the complainant, and she is fully satisfied with this timetable. I will keep you posted on this matter.
