I, too, am very concerned with the aesthetic and envirornvental appearance of the City. Last year during the drought period, forces retained by the Rice Creek Watershed District and the Anoka County Parks & Recreation Deparbnent, supported by the City, walked the creek within the City limits and removed debris as well as cut trees that were inhibiting the flow of water in the creek channel. This work was oompleted by late August and resulted in the removal of a substantial amount of foreign material. If the opportunity should arise again, I am sure that the appropriate agencies will again take the necessary action to improve and upgrade the creek channel. In regards to the development of the property adjacent to the Sears Surplus Store, this is the Moore Iake Camons Business Center. This property has been zoned for ocamnercial development for many years. While the loss of trees is a change, it is within the overall scheme of land use in the City. Through our building permit t process, staff has provided for landscaping and screening within this development to compliment the area and add to the aesthetic and environmental appearance. Currently the City has six special use parks, two regional parks, three linear parks, fourteen miniparks, three cxmmwnity parks, and twelve neighborhood parks totalling in excess of 540 acres.
