Re: Garage Roofs Located at 1514 and 1518 North Timber Ridge NE, Fridley
Dear Sir or Madam:
Inspections were conducted on August 18 and August 23, 1999 of the above noted garage roofs after
we received a telephone call from a resident regarding the condition of the garage roofs. During the
inspections, it was noted that the plywood roof decking at 1518 North Timber Ridge showed signs of
water damage on the underside and that at 1514 North Timber Ridge the roof decking had rotted
away from the support joist. Inspection report copies were left at the site with orders for corrections to
repair or replace the garage roof system.
Chapter 34, Section 3402, of the 1997 Uniform Building Code, requires that all buildings and
structures, both existing and new, and all parts thereof, be maintained in a safe and sanitary
condition. The owner or the owner's agent shall be responsible for the maintenance of the building
and structure.
You are hereby ordered to repair the roof deck and roof system, within 30 days from the date of this
letter. Building permits will be required for the roof replacement and repair of all structural elements
that are damaged. Failure to complete the corrections will require posting the building as unsafe.
