Goodell, Secretary Timber Ridge Town House Association 1534 North Timber Ridge NE Fridley, MN 55432 Dear Mr. Goodell: Please be advised the City of Fridley Public.Works.Department has reviewed your request for bike lane striping on 69th Avenue NE. 5ix.ty-ninth Avenue is not part of the approved bikeway system and therefore shouldn't be.striped as a designated bike lane. The best way to eliminate any conflict between motorists and pedestrians is to install sidewalks.. We feel instal- lation of sidewalks might be possible with the,development of the property on the north side of 69th Avenue. At this time we don't know when the future development might take place, but in order to ensure proper design and traffic flow patterns for vehicles and pedestrians, any sidewalks on the north side of 69th Avenue should be installed with the development. Also, the City would consider installation of sidewalks along the south side of 69th Avenue if a petition for sidewalk installation was received from the residents adjacent to 69th Avenue. We thank you for your concern and will keep the sidewalk construction in mind. In addition, we have passed this infor- mation on to the Fridley Police Department. Since 69th Avenue is presently striped for 2 -way traffic only, any vehicles using it as a 4 -lane roadway are violating the law. Perhaps additional enforcement will help solve the problem. Timber Ridge Townhouse Association that a dangerous traffic con- dition exists on 69th Avenue N.E. between Central Avenue N.E. and the New Brighton City Limits. Drivers frequently use the street as if it had four traffic lanes. Several residents of our townhouse complex have expressed concern about the serious dangers this condition poses to pedestrians, particularly in the mornings and evenings when there is a great deal of pedes- trian traffic walking to the bus stop at Central Avenue and 69th Avenue. It appears that this problem could be alleviated somewhat if bicycle lane designations similar to those on Central Avenue were painted on 69th Avenue. The Board of Directors has autho- rized me to make this formal request.
