Dear Ms. Tester:
Enclosed please find this department's letter dated October 5, 1982 that
brought to your attention various housing maintenance violations in the
rental property located at 124 Pilot Avenue N.E. A subsequent
reinspection on November 8, 1982 has determined that the following items
continue to be in violation of the City Residential Maintenance Code and
are still in need of corrective action:
EXTERIOR:
1. Provide and maintain approved, single cylinder, dead bolt locks on
all doors entering into any apartment. Any installed dead bolt
locks must be single cylinder, five -pin tumbler type with a minimum
lock throw of 3/4 inch. Any questions as to the type and location
can be directed to the City Inspection Department.
INTERIOR•
2. Provide and maintain an approved, hard wired, smoke detector for
both living levels. Questions as to the type and location can be
directed to the City staff.
3. The placement of the basement smoke detector inside the bedroom is
not an acceptable location. The detector must be moved to the
hallway at the head of the stairs. Any questions as to the location
can be directed to the City staff.
A reinspection will be conducted on or about December 6, 1982 to
determine compliance. We are confident in your cooperation on these
matters and if any questions or problems arise, please feel free to call

Dear Ms. Tester:
It was brought to the City's attention and confirmed by an on—site
inspection on 8eteber- 1982 that the above listed rental property was
being maintained in violation of Chapter 220, Residential Maintenance
Code, of the Fridley City Code.
The inspection on the above date found the following list of
deficiencies which must be corrected. Any repairs or improvements must
be completed in a workmanship like manner. It is the City's hope that
similar or other deficiencies that were not noted will be corrected as
needed.
EXTERIOR:
1. Enclosed you will find a copy of the State energy retrofitting
requirements that were adopted by reference by the Fridley City
Council in March, 1982. Please note that the ordinance requires
that ell exterior windows doors rim JoistsJoints and utility
openings be effectively caulked and weatherstripped to seal off
drafts and reduce energy losses Although these are manditory
requirements, it is the City's hope that each property owner will
realize that the money and energy savings and the increased comfort
to the occupant, would more then compensate for the cost of ing e
