On Ojctober 7, 1985, the Fridley City Council officially approved your
request for a lot split, L.S. #85-07, on Lots lA and 1B, Block 1, Iwen
Terrace to be split in half and also Lot 2 to be split in half and Lot 3
to be split in half to allow duplexes to be sold individually with the
following stipulations:
Three park fees of $750.00 each to be paid with the first three building
permits.
Protective covenant agreement between subsequent owners to be approved
by the City and recorded at Anoka County.
�l Subdivision to be recorded at Anoka County prior to any building permit.
A survey of the new lots is needed so Council can pass the -resolution before
the Lot Split can be recorded at Anoka County.*

This letter is being sent to discuss our typical engineered sections for the segmental retaining wall at the
5550 Regis Trail project in Fridley, Minnesota. This design is based on verbal information provided by
you on August 21, 2007. No formal soil report was provided for this project.
I understand that the proposed wall will be constructed with Anchor Retaining Wall 6" Diamond block;
will be approximately 50 feet long; and will have a maximum exposed height of 8 feet. The wall will
have level slopes at the front and top of the wall. A minimum embedment depth of 6" should be
maintained for the wall. No other surcharge or groundwater loads have been designed for the wall.
The attached typical sections should be referenced for the appropriate wall section height. Special note
should be made of the wall embedment depth and the geosynthetic fabric (geo-grid) length as measured
from the front face bf the .wall. Refer to Anchor Retaining Wall Systems Specifications for installation
information and details.
The design of the wall system assumes the following.
- Soil conditions: Silt/Clay, friction angle = 30.0 degrees, unit weight of 125.0 lb/ft3
- Allowable soil bearing capacity =1,500 psf
- No surcharge loads
- Slope at bottom =10:1; Slope at top =10:1
- Minimum embedment depth = 6"
- Block Type: Anchor 6" Diamond
- Geosynthetic Fabric Type: Mirafi 3XT
Direct all surface drainage away from the wall. The wall design was performed using the design
guidelines presented in the second addition of the "Design Manual for Segmental Retaining Walls"
(DMSRW) published by NCMA in 1996. If soil conditions, proposed wall layouts, or other design
parameters vary from that assumed, a revised analysis may be needed.
