Due to heavy runoff and rainfall in the spring of 2000 it appears as though a portion of the stream bank slumped into the creek. As a result there is continuing erosion on my property during periods of high water levels. That portion that is now affected was included in the stream bank stabilization plan initiated by RCWD and the city of Fridley. The purpose of the project was to armor the banks and protect it from erosion under normal flow conditions as pictured. The project was done knowing that there was no way to protect the banks from any and all storm events and flow conditions. We believe the project accomplished that and continues to fimctionproperly. This project is complete and closed and all warrantees on the work by the contractor have long since expired. As for assistance at this time, the best the City can offer is to supply and deliver black dirt to the front of your property that you may then transport to and fill the areas above the installed rip rap. Getting vegetation to grow in these areas is the best erosion control available. Once established, the root system will work to hold the soils in place. We cannot deliver dirt to the creek bank as we no longer have access. Driving across your's or another yard would create ruts and damage sod to the point where that restoration may cost more than the original project share.
