Councilman Goodspeed called me and indicated that muggo pines located on the
property east of 731 Rice Creek Terrace are obstructing the view of the people
coming out of their driveway. Please look into the situation and see if there is
any ordinance violation or if not, whether we can politely work out the situation.

our conversation, you expressed your feelings that you wouldn't re-
move them just because your neighbors wanted them removed. After
otr conversation, I went out and looked at these trees. Granted
these trees do not protrude into the street yet, but within a year
or two, I believe we would be contacting you asking for their re-
mdval. I feel that an oncoming car, or any person walking or `running
by, has no advance warning if you, or your neighbor to the west of
you, would pull out of the driveway.
Ij the interest of safety, we are asking you to reconsider your stand
ar'd take a second look at the problem. If you could remove this hazard,
either by trimming the trees or remox-ing them, it would be greatly
appreciated by this department.

This letter is to confirm that you have retained my firm, Stroh Engineering to provide
structural en neenng review of the proposed structural repairs at the Goodspeed
Residence located at 731 Rice Creek Terrace in Fridley, MN. Ms. Christine Bleyhl has
prepared the construction plans for this project. The proposed structural work is described
below.
T'he structural repairs will include the addition of a new LVL beam in the attic
spiace above the living room ceiling to provide intermediate support for the
roof rafters and ceiling joists.
The brick veneer and brick hearth around the (gas) fireplace surround at the
front of the house is supported directly on the main floor joists and sheathing.
There has been some deflection of the floor sheathing due to the weight of the
brick veneer. Full depth (2x8) wood blocking will be added between the joists
to iprovide additional support for the brick.
New bridging will be installed below the main floor joists to reduce the `floor
sg4eaks'. Existing bridging is damaged with loose and/or missing fasteners.
My structural jdesign review for this project has been substantially completed as of this
date and all of the information relative to the new LVL beam installation is included on
the drawings prepared by Ms. Christine Bleyhl.
