Dear Mr. Lumby:
I am sorry for the delay in responding to your letter of September 4, 1986
on the above subject.
The sign locations you have requested are not under City control. The
Anoka County Highway Department has responsibility for the right-of-way on
37th and East River Road, Lafayette and East River Road, and Osborne Road
ano Central Avenue. The Nunnesota Department of Transportation, District
5, has right-of-way responsibility for the 45th and 85th and University
Avenue locations.
The City, in conjunction with the Housing and Redevelopment Authority and
certain business groups, is investigating a proposal to design and
construct a significant structure at the major highway entrances into the
City. This structure could incorporate logos of the various Fridley
community groups and serve to weloome as well as identify the City limits.
As this plan progresses, we will keep you informed and hopefully obtain the
Lions as well as other groups' support for the final design.
If I can assist you in any other manner regarding this subject, please feel
