The line is now located so that it does not cross over the porches or decks at any point. It was with the owner's approval that we placed the line where it is now. If the owner wants us to move the line again, he will have to pay the full cost of the project (all labor and material). If he wants it put underground, he would have to provide us with an easement across his property. Dear Mr. Morkrid: The City of Fridley has received a written complaint stating that the north wall of your residence is less than the required 10 feet from your north lot line that is required by City Zoning Code. The City's file on your property, indicates that the addition -you constructed in 1980 should be 12 feet from your north line. We have no survey on your property that indicates the existing as -built location of your home, however using the lot corners installed by your neighbor's surveyor, it is obvious that your residence is less than the required 10 feet from your north lot line, maybe as close as 5 feet. There are at least two solutions available to you to bring the situation into compliance. One is to remove that part of the structure that is within the 10 foot required side yard; the other is to obtain a variance that would grant you City permission to leave the existing condition as it now exists. If you decide to file for a variance, you must fill out the enclosed application form, together with a plot plan indicating geographically the variance you are requesting. It is possible that there exists a description or survey overlap but this can not be determined unless you have a survey of your lot completed.
