Appeal, Commission Yleeting March 11.,_1980 Pa e. Mr. Gabel asked if they are dealing with big semi's? Mr. „Gustayson stated that there are occasional semi's, but, that is not the general rule, because they might only have. one semi a week. Ms. Gabel questioned what type of business they were going to have in the part of the building that would be rental? Mr. Gustayson stated that they have tenatively rented the,. space to anpther ,grinding shop; ` only they would .do a, different. type of grinding.. This he stated would be a one', or two man shop._ He further Stated that the only,,other one:they have discussed it with was.proposing to salvaging engines from cars and installing them in other auto-nobiles. I Gustayson, stated that they would prefer to get another machine sho=p, in the rental'area. Ms. Gabel stated that she would like a clarification on. -what the rental side would be used for in the case of engines. Mr- Gustayson explained that right now Dick's is towing the cars in but that he is not involved with the crushing, and the junk yard business. He stated that it was his,understanding that Di-ck's was looking for a place to operate :his towing business. its. Gabel statedthat what. she. was looking -at, was avoiding any storage of junk on this property also, -because that -has been a problem' in the past-* Mr. Gustayson stated that this stipulation of not storing any junk or excess car parts would have to be written into a Tease. Mr. Kemper questioned if these would be covered docks? . .Mr. Gustayson stated that yes they would be; covered docks. Mr. Gustayson further.stated that he gave the City the under .standing, and it would .be written into the.leases, that there would be provisions for inside storage of trash, with no out* side provisions for trash. ,Ms* Gabel questioned the plans for landscaping?' Mr. Gustayson stated that there is now Black Hills Spruce , and they would be putting in cedar trees along the retaining wall. He. further stated that there are plans to put in a privacy fence. Mr. Barna, questioned Mr. Moravetz, if there is adaquate parking facilities provided for.the square foot°of the building? Mr. Moravetz stated that yes there was. MOTION by Pdr. Plemel, seconded by c+ir. Kemper, to close the Public Hearing. APPEALS COMMISSION MEETING March -11, 1980 Psae 5 Ms. ;;Gabel. asked if I.,'ir. & fd;rs. M11 tchell, would tell the Commission what their proposed plan is for? Mr. Mitchell stated that their plan'is to place a screened in porch in the back of.their home. He further stated that currently that space is occupied by 'a deck, and that basically what they 'want to do is enclose the deck, so that this would provide more privacy from what is already a small backyard. The Commission members.,,then studied" the proposed plan and a snapshot the pet.tioneers provided, showing the'back yard and deck. Mr.li.tchell' stated that there, -plans . are for a 14.X 10 screened in porch on the West side of the house.He further stated that they plan `to retain the now 6 X 10 deck, and enclosing the top, but not the bottom. Ms. Gabel questioned if this was going to be just a screened in porch, or an all year round porch? Mrs. Mitchell stated that it would be a three season porch, and „'that it would not be heated. Mr. Kemper questioned if the footings would be satisfactory. M r._Mitchell stated that the contractor had talked about pretty much -,taking the deck down and. would require a new foundation to be put in. M -r. Kemper then questioned what then' would they use .to 'hold the deck up? Mrs. Mitchell stated that they would probably use the floor, and the footings, and then put "in additional footings; and a support beam. Mr. Kemper stated that what his question was, was that at present, they must have some sort of timbers holding the deck up, so since they would be redoing the footings, what are the support members going ,to look like? Mr. & :firs. Mitchell stated that they would have basically the. sane support pillars put in. Xr. Mr. Plemel questioned'"if the home was to -tally destroyed? Mr. Colstrom stated that yes, it had to be torn down. - Ms. Gabel questioned when did this -fire happen?. Mr. Colstrom stated that it happened February 16th, and the fire is still under investigation. He further stated that they were :on vacation at the time of the fire. Mr. Colstrom stated that he would like to put a two foot cantilever both in front grid in the back to give them more space. Ms. Gabel noted' that it had a detached garage', she questioned if the fire got the garage. Mr. Colstrom stated that no the garage was not damaged. Mr. Kemper questioned what type of. driveway they have, and if it was damaged by any of the fire fighting equipment? Mr. Colstrom stated .,that they have an asphalt -driveway► and no,: it was not damaged. Mr. Plemel stated that it appeared.that every house was.setback 35 feet. Colstrom stated that would be approximately the size. He stated that he .. was not going .to go the full with of the*. building; ; with the overhang. He stated that what he would like to do, would be to go a foot out, for about one-half the house, and go out about two feet on the bedrooms, and the same two, feet on the back wall. Mr. Kemper questioned if it was . a.; three -bedroom home originally ,." - Mr. Colstrom stated that he believed that was what they called it, but they used the one room as a dining room that was a walk through He stated that it was a Donnay_hou.se. He stated they.would like to open it up and have a kitchen; dining room, and family room combination. Ms. Gabel questioned how many bedrooms did they planto have then with this extra room? 'Mr. Colstrom stated that he was going to make provisions for two bedrooms in the front, and a bedroom.in the back, and a ° bath, but that it would be just one bedroom in the front. He stated that he would ask the contractor to frame in for a second door, but they would just sheetrock over it, - :so if in the .future there would.be need they soul& just cut out the sheetrock,' nd put in.a door. Mr. Kemper questioned if the bath was presently in the front? Mr. Colstrom stated that yes it was. Ms. Gabel questioned if ;that was the only bath in the house? Mr. Colstrom stated that no, there was another bath in the basement, and -they planned to move that to the rear. He further stated that he would like to raise it up one course of block, and. that presently it was about? 1/4 feet high. Mr. Kemper questioned if this was basically the same plan that they orginally had with the doors in the sane place and the stairs in the same place? Mr. Colstrom stated that yes it was, the front and back doors, and stairs would stay the same, the only basic difference would be to move the bathrooms. Mr. Kemper questioned if they would use 2 X 4 or 2 X 6 walls? Mr. Colstrom:stated it would be 2-X 4 walls.
