The City certainly sympathizes with you in that an address change is annoying and realizes that it does cause many inconveniences such as changing drivers licenses, credit cards and the like, however,. we feel the change must be made so that house numbers on your block follow a logical sequence. The reasons for an orderly numbering system are numerous and probably foremost is the ability for emergency vehicles to find your home when and if the need arises. In those rare instances, confusion and time lost may be the difference between life and death. If there was some other way to correct the numbering sequence on your block that would inconvenience less residences, we would certainly take that approach, however, in every other correction method it involves more than one change. Therefore we have chosen to change your number since this one change does correct the number sequence.
