The purpose of this memo is to clearly express -the issues in writing and to obtain a legal opinion from you on this matter. The resident at this location owns a business called 'Maid 4 M. The operation of this residential cleaning service involves two or three individuals arriving at this location each morning to pick up cleaning supplies and job addresses. these parties then return to this address in the late afternoon hours to drop off the cleaning equipment nt- and materials. It is unclear as to whether or riot the business owner is more involved in this operation than receiving/passing along job information and providing cleaning equipment and supplies. Neighbors living adjacent to this individual contend that this activity is a violation of several portions of the haeme occupation ordinance. These are as follows: 1. No stock in trade is stored outside the dwelling unit. (Cleaning supplies and equipment are kept in the attached garage.) 2. Harm occupations shall not change the residential character of the neighborhood. (The loading/unloading of the cleaning equipment and parking of vehicles - sometimes these parties carpool and leave ane or two vehicles on the street or in the resident's driveway - change the residential character and give it a business appearance.) 3. Employees shall consist of members of the immediate family only. (Those performing cleaning work are presumably not members of the resident Is 'family.) In our recent discussion, much of the focus was centered on the employee issue. However, I would like you to respond to all three issues which I have outlined.
