BUILDING PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE
Section 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuing any permit
for the erection of any building or structure, or for any addition to
any existing building or structure, or for any alterations or repairs
to.any existing building or structure, upon application therefor, require
the payment by the applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein
below set forth and in the manner herein provided to wit:
2.1. For any such permit for the erection of any fire-proof.building,.other
than a garage, warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of
any fireproof addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building
shall be at the rate of •$1.40 for each one thousand cubic feet, or fraction
thereof, in such cubical contents.
2.2. For any such permit for the erection of any fireproof garage, ware-
house, factory or grain elevator; or for the erection of any fireproof
addition for similar occupancy, to any existing building shall be at the
rate of 11.25 for each one thousand cubic feet, classified as "fireproof"
by Section 502 of the Minneapolis Building Code.

For the purpose of computing fees for building permits the cubical contents
of any building or addition to a uniform height throughout by multiplying.

the basement or cellar to the average height of the upper surface or to the
average height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
2.5. For repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be
at the rate of $3900 for each Five Hundred Dollar,, ($500.00), or fraction
thereof in the cost of all proposed work.
2.6. In no case shall the fee charged for any permit as set forth in
Section2'be less than $4.00.

On May 7, 1876, I reviewed the used tire retaining wall constructed by Mr.
Dunphy on his property. It appeared that after the exceptional amounts of
spring rains this year, the wall was intact and retained all the soil
behind it which was a substantial improvement for his property. Basement
wall was eroding prior to him installing the wall.

Cbserved the Dunphy tire wall today, August 18, 1987, approximately two years
after hz : z.d oxi,.rlcted his tire wall on Stonybrook Creek. The 'majority of
the gall is present and doing a satisfactory job. Ube westerly approximately
30 feet essentially has failed to a degree in that it wasn't properly secured
and the tire wall has leaned into the creek causing settlement and loss of
material. 1t is still salvagable if the area was dug out behind the tires
that E: -c- end a new wall was erected and properly secured to keep it
frau leaning.

with sic. ..:._ we hlave had in the recent past. But it appears that no
adcdtiunal erosion Is occurring underneath the tires. Quite a bit of the old
railroad tie retaining wall has been destroyed and washed out and is building
up in the creek channel west of Dunphy's property plus additional

Dear Mr. Dunphy:
Your letter regarding erosion along "Stonybrook" was
referred to our office for review and response.
The county did repair the outlet end of the culvert
under East River Road in 1988 and, with the cooperation of
your neighbor, was able to rip -rap and grout the outlet of
the culvert.
We are aware of the problems that exist downstream from
East River Road along "Stonybrook" and are also aware of
construction that was done by the City of Fridley to control
bank erosion in this area about 18 years ago.
While we can not accept responsibility for stabilizing
the creek bank on your property, we would participate in a
project of broader scope that would provide a means of
carrying the flow of water through this area in a manner
that does not create a threat to private property.
A copy of this letter is being sent to the City of
Fridley and we will be discussing this problem with them in
the near future.
