BUILDING PERNtT FEE SCHEDULE
Section^2, The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuing any permit for
the erection of any building or structure, or for any addition to any exist-
ing building or structure, or for any alterations or repairs to any existing
building or structure, upon application therefor, require the payment by the
applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein below set forth and
in the manner herein provided to -vitt
2.1. For any such permit for the erection of any fire -proof building, other
than a garages warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of
any fire -proof addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building
shall be at the rate of $1,40'for each one thousand cubic feet, or fraction
thereof, in such cubical contents.
2.2. For any such permit for the erection of any fire -proof garage, warehouse,
factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of any fire -proof addition,
for similar occupancy, to any existing building shall be at the rate of $1.25
for each one thousand cubic feet, classified as B°fireproofB° by Section 502 of
the Minneapolis Building Code.

2.3. For any such permit for the erection of any non -fireproof building other
than a garage,'warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or any non -fireproof
addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building - permit $1.00 for
each one thousand cubic feet.
GARAGES'
2.4.. For any such permit for the erection of any non -fireproof garage,
warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or -for the erection of any non -fireproof
addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building or for each such
building or addition ninety cents ($0.90) for each one thousand cubic feet
or fraction thereof, in the cubical contents thereof with'a minimum of $4.00.
For the purpose of computing fees for building permits, the cubical contents
of any building or addition to a uniform height throughout by multiplying the
ground area covered from a point six (6) inches below the floor line of the
basement or cellar to the -average height of the upper surface or to the
average height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
2.5. For repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be
at the rate of $3.00 per each Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or fraction
thereof in the cost of all proposed work.
2o6. In no case shall the fee charged for any permit as set forth in
Section 2 be less than $4.00.

P MERMANCE BQM POLICIES
When a building permit is issued for a commercial, industrial or a multiple dwelling residential project which requires
outside improvements, a Performance Bond or a Letter of Credit shall be submitted to the City. The bond will cover all
outside improvements, including but not limited to landscaping, irrigation, curbing, blacktopping, screening fences,
lighting, and storm drainage systems.
Calculation of bond amounts will be determined by the building permit values. The bond amount will be 38 of the building
permit value up to a 2 million dollar project or a $60,000 bond. Ebr projects greater than this,.the bond will be $60,000
plus 18 of the building permit value in excess of 2 million dollars. Actual amounts will be rounded to the nearest $100.
The City reserves the right to require greater or lesser bond amounts based on unusual circumstances. Projects with no
outside improvements, generally.will not require a bond.
Bonds must remain open until the project is fully completed. All bonds will be held over one winter and through the next
growing season to insure the survival of all landscape installations. The City will then inspect these properties in
August of the year following the initial planting. Bonds may then be released in October of that year if all improvements
are satisfactorily completed.

Dear Ms. Johnson:
Per your request, I have enclosed a copy of Fridley City Code 124
which sets the policy for noise restrictions and enforcement in
the City. Criminal citations are issued for violation of any
sections of this ordinance.
There are many possible violations of City Code 124. Examples of
common problems include the following:
1. Excessive sound produced by large equipment in industrial
districts.
2. Refuse hauling in residential areas where collection
occurs before 6:30 a.m.
3. Use of outdoor power implements outside of permitted
hours.
4. Loud/defective vehicle exhaust systems.
At the present time, the City performs no proactive testing or
monitoring of sound at any locations. The City is permitted to
conduct such testing at its discretion, but such work will probably
not occur until it is determined that conditions warrant.

Mid -May 2002, Lloyd Graczyk of Lloyd Home Improvement was hired to build a new
entry on the west side of my house located at 141-5 Trollhagend rive Nom. in
Fridley. Lloyd Graczyk of Lloyd Home Improvement also hired Bavolak Electric
Company to install a new fuse box in my garage to allow for the three-foot
space required by the city. My house was built in 1962, thus, the original
fuse box located in the utility room was out of code.
December 31, 2002 I paid Lloyd Graczyk of LLoyd Home Improvement the final
payment -withholding a check in the amount of $433.00 to be released upon
completion of the job.
March 2003, I wrote letters to the "building" and to the "electrical"
inspectors for the City of Fridley that the job was ready for inspection. Mr.
Jensen, City of Fridley Building Inspector, promptly came out to finalize his
job. As of this date the City of Fridley Electrical Inspector has failed to
respond. The electrical inspector came to the house to inspect electrical
work completed in the new entry way, however, the most urgent job -to install
the new fuse box in the garage was not completed at that time!
A few weeks ago, I called a repairman to fix my air-conditioning unit. He
told me that the switch on the new fuse box was not marked. After he located
the proper switch for the air-conditioning unit -he labeled it. Later, I went
to the old fuse box located in the utility room to check for labels on the old
panel. As I opened the door to the old fuse box, a maze of wires jumped out of
the box.
March 31, 2003 -on the City of Fridley "inspection report" by Mr. Jensen, item
#3 calls for reinspection by the Fridley electrical inspector as a final
report.
July 24, 2003 -Lloyd Graczyk came to repair the holes in my wood siding from
the removal of the old electrical stack and pole running down the side of my
house. I cannot release the $433 check to Lloyd Gracyzk until after the
Fridley electrical inspector has made his final inspection.
If the original fuse box located in the utility room was out of code due to
lack of three-foot work space required for workmen -wouldn't it be even more
important to require 3 -ft work space to work on the "guts" Call the wires)
located in the old fuse box that now feed the new fuse box?
