BUILDING PETIT FEE SCHEDULE
Section 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuing any
permit for the erection of any building or structure, or for any
addition to any existing building or structure, or for any alterations
or repairs to any existing building or structure, upon application
therefor, require the payment by the applicant for such permit of
fees to the amount herein below set forth and in the manner herein
provided to -wit:
2.1. For any such permit for the erection of any fire -proof building,
other than a garage, warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the
erection of any fire -proof addition, for similar occupancy, to any
existing building shall be at the rate of $1.40 for each one thousand
cubic feet, or fraction thereof, in such cubical contents.
2.2. For any such permit for the erection of any fire -proof garage,
warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of any fire-
proof addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building shall
be at the rate of $1.25 for each one thousand cubic feet, classified
as "fireproof" by Section 502 of the Minneapolis Building Code.
HOUSES
2.3. For any such permit for the erection of any non -fireproof build-
ing other than a garage, warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or any
non -fireproof addition, for similar occupancy, to any existing building.
Permit $1.00 for each one thousand cubic feet.
GARAGES
2.4. For any such permit for the erection of any non -fireproof
garage, warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection o'f
any non -fireproof addition, for similar occupancy,.to any existing
building or for each such building or addition. Ninety Cents for each
one thousand cubic feet or fraction thereof, in the cubical contents
thereof _with a minimum of $4.00.
For the purpose of computing fees for building permits the cubical con-
tents of any building or addition to a uniform height throughout by
multiplying the ground area covered from a point six (6) inches below /
the floor line of the basement or cellar to the average height of the
upper surface or.to the average height of the roof surface of the main
gable of a pitched roof.
2..5. For repairs or alterations town existing structure, the fee
shall be at the rate of $3.00 per each Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)
or fraction thereof in the cost of all proposed work.
2.6. in no case shall the fee charged for any permit as set forth in
Section 2 be less V $4.00.

Your neighbor to the south has called the City with regard to your
driveway being above the elevation of his lot. On April 15, 1976 we
were out to your home and obtained field data to indicate that.the
slope down from your driveway to your neighbor's yard is at a 3:1
ratio which is acceptable to the City, however, your slope down to
the north may have entailed going onto your neighbor's land and this
is something that the City has no jurisdiction on.
I did notice however that on the building permit issued for the garage
there was a stipulation that a curb be installed along the south edge
of the driveway to prevent drainage problems on the neighbor's property.
There was no date set on the curb requirement, however we are now
going on seven years and we certainly hope that you complete the
driveway with the curb by July of this year.

The agreement reached between yourself and Mr. Arneson early
in May of 1976, and confirmed in my letter of May 7, 1976, has
not been completely performed by you. It was agreed that the
landscaping and driveway improvements would be completed by
July 1, 1976, and nothing has been done to even start work on
these improvements. At the time this agreement was reached,
we selected the date. of July 1 as that coincided with the
request from the City of Fridley that you comply with the building
permit taken out October 6, 1969. At that.time it was your
feeling than the.July lst completion date would: give you ample
time and opportunity to complete the work.
We now understand that you intend to,and have sufficient time
to,complete this work before winter sets in and well before the
end of the year. Unless work has begun and steps taken..toward
substantial completion of this work by October'1.5, 1976, we will
consider you in default of our agreement and conclude that you
have no intentions of performing -the agreement within the extension
period after July 1, 1976. if you are unable to complete the work
or feel incapable of doing so within the time expressed herein,
I would appreciate it if you would contact me and so inform me.

As you will recall we sent you a letter dated April 21, 1976 whereby the
City called your attention to a couple of unfinished items with reference
to your garage construction in 1969.
We allowed you until July of this year to complete your driveway and the
curb along the south edge. The City through communications with your
neighbor's attorney, Mr. John Lewis, has not held you to our original
date of completion because we felt that the fall completion date agreed
to by Mr. Lewis seemed to be a reasonable time frame.
Realizing now that this work can be completed in a relatively short time
span, you can still meet the October 15, 1976 completion date, however
being it is now the latter part of September, we felt an obligation to
remind you of your obligation.
Both the driveway and curb requirements constitute City Code or permit
violations and the City will refer this matter to our City Attorney if
compliance is not accomplished by.the completion date. We feelyou have
every intention to complete the items on or before the October 15, 1976
date.

The City of Fridley has established a City Code for the purpose of promoting a pleasant
and attractive suburban environment. A recent inspection of the property at 7460 Van
Buren Steet N.E. revealed that not all Code requirements are presently being met. Listed
below are items which do not comply with the City Code:
Fridley City Code requires that all solid waste must be kept in secured containers
stored in the side yard, rear yard, or garage. I observed containers placed curbside
at this location. (On the day of collection, refuse containers may be placed up to
3 feet in front of the garage. Refuse haulers are required to pick up all refuse from
this location.)
Your prompt attention in correcting this situation would greatly assist us in helping make
Fridley a better place to live. An inspection will be conducted on or shortly after August
1, 1996, to determine compliance.
