BUILDING PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE
SECTION 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuing permits for the
erection of any building or structure, or for any addition to any existing
building or structure, or for any alteration or repairs to any existing
building or structure, upon application therefore, require the payment by the
applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein below set forth and in
the manner herein provided to -wit:
UNIFORM BUILDING CODE: Type 1, 2 & 4 - $2.15 for each one thousand cubic
feet, or fraction thereof, in such cubical contents. Type 3 & 5 $1.85 for
each one thousand cubic feet.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For the purpose of computing fees for building permits, the cubical contents
of any building or addition, is determined by multiplying the ground area
covered from a point six (6) inches below the floor line of the basement
or the cellar to the average heights of the upper surface or to the average
-height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
For repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be the
rate of $3.00 per each five hundred dollars ($500.00) or fraction thereof in
the cost of all proposed work.
In no case shall the fee charged for any permit as set forth in Section 2 be
less than $5.00.
VERIFICATION OF FOUNDATION
NOTE: Permits for construction will be issued a minimum of 24 hours from the
time of application, to allow for proper review of the proposed structure and
of the construction site.
A Certified Survey of the lot, showing the location of the foundation, once it
has been constructed, will be required before proceeding with the framing.
CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Application for a Certificate of Occupancy shall be made ten (10) days prior
to the use or occupancy of any structure for which a building permit has been
issued; and said structure shall not be used or occupied until a Certificate
of Occupancy has been issued.

Dear Mr.. Dostaler:
The City continues to receive complaints from the two home owners at
5701 and 5703 Washington Street N.E.
Mr. James Proctor at 5703 Washington Street N.E. informs me that the
roof repair still has not been corrected. The problem here is,that
the shingles and starter roll are short and do not extend behind the
edge of the roof. This definitely must be corrected and should be
done as soon as possible, therefore in order not to let this drag on
over a period of weeks, I will state that this correction must be
made by August 4, 1975.
The owner, Mr. Frank Sasek, at 5701 Washington Street N.E. has reported
to me quite a long list of problems he has brought to our attention,
the more serious of which are:
1. Tile on basement step loose - not enough contact
cement used.
2. Roof leak near furnace flue.
3. Siding on north wall of house is buckling.
4. Nuts and washers on bottom plate in garage missing.
5. Squeaking floors at various locations.
6. Complaint on interior paint being rough.
Would you please either correct these problems or report to ite and
the owner why you are not going to remedy the various complaints.
I will expect to hear from you by August 4, 1975 in regards to these
matters.

Dear Mr. Dostaler:
Mr. Darrel Clark,, Community Development Administrator, wrote to you about some of
the problems and complaints we are having with the Home we purchased from you on
June 5. 1975• You made several visits to our Home and you corrected some of the
problems, as follows:
1. Tile on basement steps loose. You were on vacation for 2 or 3 weeks and
I made the necessary repairs. You did not use enough contact cement or
roll.• the tile in place. You asked a Montgomery Ward Tile Department Head
to look over the job of.*er I made therepairs. He also stated that you did
not use enough cement, had the tile too tight, and did not use a roller as
required. It took me 14 man hours to de -do your work plus a quart can of
cement and 6 new tile. Icy wife tripped on the loose tale before I made the
repair and was pertty wekk shook up.
2. You send a man to repair the leak on the roof near the chimney® I dial com-
plain to you for several weeks before the repair and u stated that it was
normal and the rain poured into the basement. You did finally send the man
that installed. the furnace to do the reppir. It did rain on August 2. 19
75 and we have no mroal-bakaw
3. Siding on half of the north side of our Home is buckling. You wanted to
drive more nails into the siding and I asked you to leave it alone® I call®
the factory rep and he inspected the job. He took pictures and mailed them
to the factory. This was your responsibility but you wanted to drive nails
into a buckled wall. I feel that the factory rep will do right by us.
4. Nuts and washers were missing from bottom plate in the garage. You told me
before you received the letter from Darrel that this was not necessaz% but
you did install the same after your received his letter. You did this job
well.
:5o squeaking floors in 3 places. I made the Necessary repairs. You did not
even ask me about them after you received the letter from Darrel.
6. Complaint on interior and exterior paint. Paint dripped on the wall and run
instead of a smooth paint job. When the ceiling was sprayed it also was
sprayed on the wall. Instead of sanding it - you painted over it® I do not
expect you to do anything about this. I will sand and paint in a couple of
years if I`m stili alive.
7. shingles are buckling of the north and south -sides 6f our Home. This has not
been repaired.

8. Door frames on 2 t1odr frames should be replaced and a good carpenter should
do the job. You used crack filler and it looks worse now that before you did
the repair.
9. Aug Inithe kiteken and entry rway does not fit. It was not the rug installers
fault. All it needs is base board nosing that you did not install before we
moved into our Home.
10. The cbunteri--top in the kitchen has a bubble in it. No one has called to
repair it.
11. Yau sodded our yard. We have a problem. Poatrivalis is spreading all over
our yard. You told me to use weed and feed and that doesxno good. Could
you ask the party that laid the sod how I can get r&d of the same. I will
purchase the material and apply the same if you get me the information.
You did not clean the street of sand and clay before we moved into our new
Rome. Ydu were on vacation so I hired two boys to clean the street. You
stated that the City would clean it up. I thought it was your responsibility
so had it dome. The lot 1e was not visible when the yard was sodded so I
purchased b square yards of sod to complete the job. You stated that you
would haul the junk away from the alley. I had this done and paid for the
same. I fea paiht6d the frame of the garage door, part of the garage door,
and sanded and painted some rough siding. For this and redoing the base®.

The problem he is having is that he is unable to get caulking to hold at
three exterior corners of his home. Further investigation indicated that
there is no backing behind the siding at the two corners where his front
entry meets the main house and also the one corner at the front of the
garage and house.

The Chief Building Oficial shall, before issuing permits for the erection of any building or
structure, or for any addition to any existing building or structure, or for any alteration or repair
to any existing building or structure, upon application therefore, require the payment by the
