His concern was the flooding problem in his basement. This prompted our inspection of December 10, 1982. We have been able to determine that the water that is causing the flooding is coming from the lower level shower and the reason the water over- flows onto the floor is that the shower drain is not connected to the waste pipe. This is a violation of the Plumbing Code MHD 127 (2). This violation must be corrected and you are responsible for making it. You are to arrange the time of your correction work with the homeowner. Every water supply riser from the shower valve to the shower head outlet, whether exposed or no4 shall be securely attached to the structure. (2) Shower Waste Outlet. Waste outlets, other than those in bathtubs, serving a single shower shall be at least 1'A inch in diameter and have removable strainers not less than three (3) inches in diameter having strainer openings not less than i/4 inch in minimum dimension. Waste out lets shall be securely fastened to the waste pipe making a water -tight con - Section thereto. (3) Shower Floors or Receptors. Floors or receptors under shower compartments shall be laid on or be supported by a smooth and structurally sound base. Floors under shower compartments, other than those laid di- rectly on the ground surface or where prefabricated receptors have been provided, shall be lined and made water -tight by the provision of suitable shower pans of durable material. Such pans shall turn up on all sides at least 2 inches above the finished threshold level. Pans shall be securely fastened to the waste outlet at the seepage entrance making a water -tight joint between the pan and the outlet. Finished floor surfaces shall be con- structed of smooth, non -corrosive, non-absorbent, and waterproofed ma- terials. (4) Shower Compartments. No shower stall or receptor shall have a finished interior dimension which is less than "30" inches, and each shower compartment shall be of a finished size capable of completely encompassing a "30" inch circle when the door or curtain is closed, and of a horizontal cross sectional area of not less than 900 square inches. The "30" inch re- quirement shall not apply to a bathtub used as a shower or to showers installed in remodeling. (Amended 6-26-72) U7 Sinks (1) Sink Waste Outlets. Sinks shall be provided with waste outlets not less than lits inches in diameter. A strainer, crossbar, or similar device shall be provided. Sinks, on which a food grinder is installed, shall have a waste opening of not less than 31A, inches in diameter. (k) Food -Waste -Grinder Units (1) Domestic Food -Waste -Grinder Waste Outlets. Domestic food - waste -grinders shall be connected to a drain of not less than lits inches in diameter. (2) Commercial Food -Waste -Grinder Waste Outlets. Commercial food - waste -grinders shall be connected to a drain of sufficient size to serve the unit, but in no case connected to a drain of less than 2 inches in diameter, and shall be connected, trapped and vented separately from any other fix. tures or compartments. (3) Water Supply Required. All food -waste -grinders shall be provided with an adequate supply of water in sufficient flow rate to insure proper functioning of the unit. The water supply line to a commercial food waste grinder, which is equipped with a water rinsed funnel, shall be protected against back siphonage by an air gap or vacuum breaker. ` (4) Grinders Not to be Connected with Grease Interceptors. Also attached is a list of properties still listed as having pending assessments when a special assessment search is made based on the Preliminary Assessment Roll for Sanitary Sewer and Storm Sewer Project No. 113 ordered in by the City Council on May 21, 1973. In 1973 certain storm sewer work was accomplished in the Innsbruck North Addi- tion under projects 103 and 112. Storm sewer project 113 designated a future improvement of the North Drainage District. The southern portion of this h drainage district was accomplished under project 125. Within the North Drainage District the storm sewer flows into an intermediate pond south of North Danube Road then through backyard easements eventually to the storage basin behind the Innsbruck Nature Center. We receive occasional calls from the neighborhood on the condition of the inter mediate pond and a backyard drainage channel. Accordingly,at some point in time,we will have to address this storm system and construct some favorable holding structure plus underground dispersal system.
