MEMBRANE WATERPROOFING SPECIFICATIONS (1) Walls should be sufficiently braced by General Contractor to withstand back -filling pressures. (2) General Contractor should inspect concrete or block walls before application of waterproofing materials. The walls should be solid and no openings or voids should be present. Also, Gen- eral Contractor should mark grade line to insure full waterproofing coverage. (3) Waterproofing Contractor should remove small amounts of dirt and debris from footing area, and then brush or broom footing area. (4) While spraying, the applicator should face the wall to insure proper viewing of the work area. The mastic should be applied uniformally to a thickness of 1/8". (5) Uniform thickness of the mastic should be applied first at the footing area. After the footing area has been sprayed, the mastic should then be applied along the grade line. The remainder of the wall will then be sprayed. (6) A 6 -mil polyethylene film, clear style, will be set and rubbed into the mastic by hand. The poly should be nailed at the top every 16" to insure holding until backfilling. The poly should run down over the footing area by at least 6". The poly insures greater water and moisture resistance and protects the mastic against abrasion at the time of back filling. (7) To insure protection against wind, once poly is in place Waterproofing Contractor should place dirt block, or any other weight on top of the bottom edge of poly. (8) Prior to back -filling, the General Contractor should inspect all bracing. Care should be taken that the movement of dirt will not damage the now in place waterproofing. (9) The above specifications provide waterproofing for the wall area and in special cases, tiling or other measures must be considered in order to protect against hydrostatic pressures which may run under footing and come up at the floor line.
