Aymar: As you are aware, we have been having a difficult time getting you to correct the front steps at 4740 - 2nd Street N.E. First, we wrote you a letter on September 24, 1974 bringing this matter to your attention. We then wrote you a second letter on October 7, 1974. We met with you during the latter part of.October and discussed this violation. On November 4, 1974 we again met with you, at the job site, where you indicated that you understood what was in violation, however you did indicate some reluctance to correct it. We waited until November 15, 1974 and when we noted that no correction work had commenced, we signed a complaint against you for the violation. On November 21, 1974 you accepted the registered letter informing you to appear in court on November 27, 1974 at 9:30 A.M. to answer the complaint. This complaint is now a matter for you and the courts to settle, however, since we apparently are having a difficult time clearing up the matter. of correction, I feel I should bring to your attention that we may exercise our right to issue a Code violation complaint each and every day the violation exists. I can assure you that we feel we have given you every opportunity to take the necessary steps to correct the'violation. We plan to wait ten (10) days after your acceptance of this letter, and after said ten (10) days we will commence issuing continued separate Code violation complaints. In searching our files, we have determined that there was no permit for the work and the occupant informed us that you were the contractor who actually did the work. The construction itself does not meet the State Building. Code. The risers are to high, the landing is not large enough, and there is no frost footing supporting the steps. You must first make application for a license and a building permit, then make the necessary repairs to the steps to meet the building code. We are hopeful that you will comply with this request so that more drastic steps will not have to be taken by the City to gain compliance. The City will wait until October 4, 1974 to hear from you.
