SUBJECT: Proposed Sign for "Habitat for Humanity" House
Moving Project
A representative from "Habitat for Humanity", an organization which
provides housing for low and moderate income persons, has contacted
me regarding the ability to place a 16 square foot sign on the
vacant single family lot, where they intend to move in a home in
the Hyde Park area. The property is located in the southwest
corner of 58th Avenue and 2nd Street. The code only permits the
installation of a 6 square foot real estate or construction sign
on a single family lot. The primary intent of the sign is to make
other neighbors in the area aware of the proposed location of the
house on the property.
It is my understanding that"Habitat for Humanity" has scheduled
a ground breaking for June 1, 1990. They must obtain a moving and
building permit from the nspection Department prior to locating
the home on the property. Given that these processes are not a
required public hearing, staff proposes that we permit them to
install one 16 square foot sign for a maximum 14 day period, to
begin on June 4, 1990 and to be removed by June 18, 1990. We would
retain a $200.00 check to insure that the sign is removed promptly.
Unless otherwise advised, we will proceed as proposed.
