THRUmWALL SKIMMER
MODEL 2090-02
IMPORTANT:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY SAVE THIS MANUAL FOR
BEFORE STARTING THE INSTALLATION. FUTURE REFERENCE.
DOUGHBOY RECREATIONAL, I NC.10959 J ersey Boulevard, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730
VACUUMING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Clean the filter following the filter cleaning Instruc-
tions. Turn off pump. Clean the skimmer basket (2).
2. Assemble the vacuum head, handle and hose. Attach
free end of hose to the double tapered end of the
vacuum adapter (19).
3. Turn on pump. Hold the free end of the hose against
the return fitting discharge. This will force air from the
hose. When the bubbles cease to rise from the vacuum
head, all of the air is removed (Fig. 2). Turn off pump.
4. Swing the vacuum/regulator cover (12) to the down
position. Insert the vacuum adapter with hose
attached into exposed opening (Fig. 3).
FIG. 3
5. The lid (1) performs two functions. In normal operation,
It covers the top of the skimmer. During vacuuming,
this same lid becomes the sealing plate for the skim-
mer body. This is done by removing the lid and placing
over the basket opening. The circular ring on the
underneath side of lid will help locate. You are now
ready for vacuuming. (Fig. 4).
FIG
6. Turn on filter and operate vacuum over pool floor.
7. When finished vacuuming, turn off pump. Remove the
vacuum hose with vacuum adapter attached from the
pool. Clean the skimmer basket. Move the lid (1) to
the original position on top of the skimmer. Close the
vacuum/regulator cover.
NOTE: On extremely dirty pool, the vacuum to waste
feature may be used. Check your filter Instruction manual
to see if your filter is so equipped.
WINTERIZING INSTRUCTIONS
In areas where freezing climates exist, it is necessary to
protect your pool, filter and accessories from damage due
to freezing. The following steps should be followed:
1. Clean and drain all water from filter.
2. Drain water level of the pool to approximately six in-
ches below the return fitting.
3. Disconnect the suction and the discharge hoses from
the filter.
4. Remove the Pool Power Pak® and filter, store in area
not subject to freezing.
5. Leave the skimmer lid in place to reduce the amount of
snow and water entering the skimmer.
We strongly recommend that, for the protection of your
skimmer, liner and pool wall, that you purchase and Install
the DOUGHBOY Winterizing Kit (2099-00). The proper in-
stallation of this kit will allow the removal and storage of
the skimmer and should eliminate any possibility of
damage due to winter perils. REMOVING THE SKIMMER,
WITHOUT INSTALLING THE WINTERIZING KIT, IS VERY
HAZARDOUS TO THE POOL WALL, LINER AND POOL IN.
STALLATION, AND VOIDS ANY WARRANTY.

Important Step: The cove is a vital structural element that prevents the water pressure from forcing
the pool liner out under the bottom rail. The manufacturer will not assume responsibility should the
cove be omitted. EARTH COVE: Use screened damp earth to form a cove around the inside base of
pool wall. Shape and compact firmly. PREFORMED: Specially designed preformed pool cove is
available from your dealer.

not attempt to lift and pull the liner if you have more than 4" of water in the wrinkled area. Damage
to the liner is possible under these conditions.
Filling Deep Excavated Pools: It is important to remember that the floor of the liner must stretch
into the excavated areas and not the wall. You should end up with the bottom edge seam located
in the cove area all the way around pool when the pool is full of water. Many people are afraid to
stretch the liner properly and end up with the bottom edge seam somewhere on'the bottom of the
pool and not enough liner wall to go over the steel wall to complete the installation. When this
happens you may think you've received the wrong liner, when in actuality, the liner was
improperly stretched in place.
