Re: Storage Building in Rear Yard at 5336 - 5th Street NE
Dear Mr. Soderholm:
The City recently received a letter asking if a City building
permit was issued for the storage building in your rear yard A
field inspection of your property reveals a storage building of
about 16' x 20' dimensions exists in your rear yard. Our records
do not indicate a permit being issued to anyone for the
construction of a storage building in your yard.
The City Code requires a building permit for all structures larger
than 100 square feet. Building without a permit is a violation of
the City Code.
In order for you to correct the violation, you must either remove
the structure and debris, or apply for and obtain a building permit
for the existing structure. Application for the permit can be made
at our office. We will need a plot plan and building plans to
accompany your application for Code compliance review.
Please call or notify our office of your intention on this matter
on or before March 16, 1992. If you have any questions, please
feel free to call me at 571-3450.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Soderholm:
Recently we received information that you may be operating a business out of your
residence which is not in conformance with the Fridley City Code. An inspection
conducted on February 21, 1992, revealed that you appear to be operating a
business involving sales of domestic rabbits on this site. In the zoning
district where you live, home occupations are permitted as an accessory use
provided that certain criteria are met. Three of these requirements (City Code
copy enclosed).are as follows:
1. No stock in trade shall be stored outside the dwelling unit.
2. No over-the-counter retail sales are involved.
3. Signage shall be limited to one wall sign only which may be a maximum
of 3 square feet in area.
It is important that you comply with the Fridley City Code by discontinuing this
activity in¢nediately.
In addition, the mere act of raising rabbits requires that a livestock license
be obtained. I have enclosed a copy of Fridley's City Code 101 concerning animal
regulations for your review. Should you wish to continue raising rabbits for
your own enjoyment (not for conducting a business in violation of home occupation
restrictions mentioned earlier), you will need to apply for a livestock license
to conduct such activity.
Please take action immediately to fully comply with the City Code items addressed
in this letter. Feel free to contact me at 572-3595 if you have questions or
