Dear Mr. Wiley:
In my previous letter I stated that we had excluded the option of
building a new garage to replace the shed, but since then we have
been informed that rabbits need to be housed 30' from the lot line.
Therefore, if a livestock license will be issued, providing they
are housed in a new building which is 30' from the lot line, we
will submit the building plans to your office. Once we are granted
a building permit, construction will begin as soon as weather
permits.
Once again thank you for your patience with us in this matter and
please excuse our indecision but we truly want to keep our bunnies
and still stay within our budget.

RE: Letter sent to us regarding permit for existing structure.
Dear Sir:
When we built the storage building in our back yard at 5336 5th
St. N.E., it was not our intention to willfully violate any
building codes.
The structure was built one half at a time, each section measur-
ing 10' X 13'. Before beginning construction on the first half of
the shed nearly seven years ago, my husband called the city offices
and inquired about the need of a permit. Due to miscommunication
somewhere, we were advised that no permit was needed. Two years
ago we added the second half but never made inquirey about the need
for a permit.
Attached are the design dimensions, sketches, and list of materials
used to construct the building.
We sincerely wish to cooperate with the city in following code
procedures and are willing to pay regular permit costs, but because
original misinformation came from the building permit office we
would find it unfair to be penalized with additional penalty fines.

Thank you for the cordial and informative site visit you paid on
Tuesday, March 3, 1992.
My husband and I have decided against building a new structure.
Our decision of whether to upgrade the existing structure to
building code or remove it all together is contingent upon the City
Council's decision regarding our livestock license.
Since we are currently scheduled to appear at the March 16th city
council meeting regarding the livestock license we would like to
request a two week grace period before deciding between:
1. Removing the structure.
2. Upgrading the existing 13'X 20' structure to comply with
city building codes by:
a. having an electrical inspection
b. putting on siding
C. reinforcing the roof supports
If option two is chosen, my husband will contact you for specific
details on how to reinforce the roof properly before actually doing
any work. If we can delay our decision for two weeks I will then
contact you again with our final plans.
