The advanced design reduces operation and maintenance to simple, common-sense procedures. GENERAL TIPS ON PUMP INSTALLATION For best pump performance, locate the system below the pool water line and as close to the pool as practical. Make sure suction joints are tight. Suction pipe should be as large or larger than discharge pipe. Damp, non -ventilated locations should be avoided. Motors re-quirc free circulation of air to aid in cooling.- ' Insure that the electrical supply available agrees with the motor's voltage, phase and cycle, and that wire size is adequate for the motor rating and distance from power source. Motor must always be properly grounded. Use only a properly -grounded receptacle. Electrical circuits must be protected by proper size ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) as required by applicable electrical codes. All electrical wiring must be performed by qualified personnel, and must conform to local codes and regulations. MAINTENANCE 1. Clean strainer basket regularly. Do not strike basket to clean. Inspect strainer cover gasket regularly and replace as necessary. 2. Hayward pumps have se_ ubricating motor bearings and shaft seals. No lubrication is necessary. 3. Keep motor clean. Insure air vents are free from obstruction STARTING AND PRIMING INSTRIOTTIONS Fill strainer/housing with water to suction pipe level. Never operate the pump without water Water acts as a coolant and lubricant for the mechanics shaft seal. Open all suction and discharge lines anis valves, as w ii as air bleed (if available) on filter. (The air that is to be ,wcusplacedtrom the suction must have sor*ts,plae5? bi CAUTION: All suction and discharge valves must be open when starting the system. Failure to do so could cause severe personal injury and/or property damage. Turn on power and allow a reasonable time for priming. Priming time depends on suction lift and horizontal length of suction piping. If the pump will not start, or will not prime, see TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE on back page. Note: ANSI/NSPI-4 Article V, standard for above- ground and on -ground pools, advises that components such as the filtration system, pumps and heater be positioned so as to prevent their being used as a means of access to the pool by young children. 4. Occasionally, shaft seals must be replaced, due to wear or damage. See instructions. STORAGE/WINTERIZING Pump and motor must be protected from freezing. Shut off all electrical power. Disconnect cord/electrical connections and plumbing connections. Drain thoroughly and clean out any debris. Store pump and motor in a dry, well -ventilated room. It must be connected to a grounded 110 volt electrical outlet, with a G.F.I. (Ground Fault Interrupter) c) The pool must be in reach of your water supply. Although the water should not be drained, but kept dean through filtration and chemicals, there should be drainage facilities near in case of need. d) Perimeter area of ground must be absolutely levet and firm. All grass and sod under entire pool area must be dug out to avoid unpleasant odors from decomposition under the pool due to lack of air. Remove sharp objects, stop-, twigs. Pebbles, roots, etc. They may damage the liner. If the ground has been treated with chemicals or wood killer allow two weeks before setting up the pool. Do not set up the pool on concrete, asphalt, tar Paper, peatmoss, sand, gravel, or where nut grass has been planted. Poorly prepared ground could allow certain weeds or grass to grow through the liner. Liner is not warranted against this. If ground is uneven in perimeter area, O g out the high spots. Do not build up the low side by padding it with earth. The weight and movement of the water Y41 pack down the fill causing the pod to sink. Inside perimeter of pool { the area Inside of the frame and wall) can be leveled with 1' or 2' of sand raked and roiled smooth. FAILURE TO OBSERVE ANY OF THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS WILL VOID WARRANTY.
