MINISH CHAIRMAN BOARD OF APPEALS I 39 The Minutes of the 3oard of Appeals Meeting of July 5, 1972 Page 4 Mr. Minish stated that if the fireplace is to remain where proposed, it will require another variance. mr, Tichey said he might have to reconsider putting the fireplace in. The living space is more important to him than the fireplace. Mr. Sondheimer stated he would prefer to table this request until a survey is obtained. As far as what was submitted to us, it is far t000ketchy. He said he would want to base his decision on actual dimensions and the distance to the lot line would make a difference. Mr. Harju said he agreed, as he felt it was not out of order for the Board to require actual measurements. NOTION by Sondheimer to table this request until the applicant can submit; a verified survey showing actual measurements (dimensions between structures and a dimension from the lot line to the corner of the addition), the grade separation between floors, a plan showing firewall location, fireplace location, general layout of the addition, and also have the Building Inspection: Department take two pictures of the distance between structures and what is existing and proposed to be enclosed. Seconded by Wahlberg. Upon a voice vote, there beim no nage, the motion carried Unimimous ly . Mrs. WahlberS left at 8:45. XMION by Crowder, seconded by Harju, to waive the reading of the public hearing notice. C Mr, Frisbee was present to present the request. He presented letters of no objection from the property owners on either side of his lot. WTION by Crowder to receive the two letters from Mr. Wayne Hanson, 170 634 Way and Mr. & Mrs. Donald Meyers, 146 m 63k Way. Seconded by Sondheimer. a voice vote, there being no mys, the motion carried unanimously. W, Frisbee stated he wants to move the garage forward to leave the -root cover the existing porch. He said he would also like to change the appearance of the house as the houses are similar in this area. lir. Crowder asked why the garage couldn't be flush with the front of the house 4nd rstick out the 4 feet from the back of the house. Mr. Frisbee said there is no reason other than covering the front porch. The Minutes of the Board of Appeals Meeting of .Tule 5. 1972 Page 5 Mr. Harju said the garage could be set back the 4 feet and still have the roof come out to cover the porch and have the same effect of changing the appearance of the house and this way it would not need a variance. NOTION by Sondheimer to close the public hearing. Seconded by Crowder. upon a voice vote, there no nays, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Crowder said there is basically no hardships as it is possible to go into the back yard. The houses are similar in this area and it would be nice to be different but he felt he would like to see some sort of hardship. Mr. Harju said he agreed. Aesthetics is the only reason for granting the variance. The same effect could be obtained, at no extra cost, and by staying within the Code. STI®N by Crowder to recommnd to Council denial of the variance since there are many alternatives available and a true hardship is not apparent. The style of house can be modified within the Code. Seconded by Crowder. upon a voice vote, there being no nays, the motion carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned by Chaim Minish at 9:15 P.M.
