Enclosed are three rough diagrams of the French drain system I spoke to you about on Monday which I
would like to terminate in the drainage pond west of my property.
Diagram A shows an overhead view of my property, the drainage pond, and neighboring
properties/features. Diagram B is an overhead view of my house, around which I would like to install
the French drain system. Diagram C is a cut -away view of the east and west sides of my house where
the drain would be installed, showing width and depth.
Please note: these diagrams are not to scale. Also, not all the dimensions are necessarily completely
accurate as I'm still in the planning phase. I am working on scale diagrams as well as a topographical
map of my yard (I will also be re -grading the soil immediately around my house) and would be happy to
provide you with copies once they're complete.
As you can see in Diagrams A and B, I would have secondary lines leading out into my back yard. These
would end in drywells to try to keep as much of the runoff water on my property as possible; however,
since the primary purpose of the drain system is to channel water away from my house (the basement
has leaked in the past), I would like to have an outlet into the drainage pond for any excess water that
cannot be absorbed by the yard.
I would also like to confirm with you whether a sod cutter and/or trencher would be considered
equipment for which I would need a permit to perform this work.
