submitted before a building permit could be issued for the proposed addition.
Mr. Sondheimer felt none of the variances should be. granted without such a
survey.
Mr. Castner agreed that a new survey would be made if needed.
A discussion on the setback from the street was held. Mr. Harju felt the
addition might require more parking. Mr. Minish stated he felt the parking
should be maximized at the expense of reducing the setbacks as much as possible.
MOTION by Harju, seconded by Sondheimer, to close the public hearing. Upon
a voice vote, there being no nays, the motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Castner's request as to when blacktopping could be started was answered
by the Building Inspector advising the applicant to meet again with the City
staff.
MOTION by Crowder, seconded by Harju, to recommend to the Council approval of
the variances as proposed, contingent upon the applicant providing slatted
screen fencing along the residential boundaries and that if and when-blacktopping
is permitted, this will be done to the north property line or to a curb line
designed and located by the City Engineering Department. Upon a voice vote, ,
there being no nays, the motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Les Nordin, 491 - 67th Avenue N.E., appeared before the Board for
preliminary concept consideration by the Board for a steel supported sod
covered structure, nearer the side lot line on a corner lot than our Ordinances
permit. Pictures were shown to the Board and they felt it was an intriguing

concept.
The Building Inspector advised Mr. Nordin that he should submit plans and data
to the Building Standards -Design Control subcommittee since this type of
structure was very dissimilar with any of the ekisting structures in the area.
The Board advised him that they would consider his request for a variance when
the other committee and Council had granted approval.
ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Minish at 10:35 P.N.

Dear Mr. Nordin:
We have reviewed your request to install a portable garage on your property at 491 -
67th Avenue. We have the following comments:
1. You need to apply for a building permit for an accessory structure.
2. Please provide information regarding the snow and wind -loading ability of
the structure. The structure must meet the Uniform Building Code
requirements for snow and wind loads. If you have questions regarding
these requirements, please contact Barry Reisch at 572-3603.
3. The structure must be located in accordance with accessory structure
setbacks set forth in the City's Zoning Code. Please see the attached
drawing for the approved location of the structure. Any other location will
require a variance.
4. A portable garage in excess of 240 square feet (12 feet by 20 feet) will
require a special use permit.
