THE MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING OF JUNE 4, 1969 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mittelstadt at 7:40 P.M. MEMBERS PRESENT: Mittelstadt, Harris, O'Bannon MENDERS ABSENT: Ahonen, Minish OTHERS PRESENT: Hank Muhich-Building Official MOTION by Harris to approve the minutes of May 28, 1969 as written. Seconded by O'Bannon. Upon a voice vote, there being no nays, the motion carried unanimously. 1. A REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE OF SECTION 45.26 TO REDUCE THE FRONT YARD REQIIIR FROM 35 FEET TO 33 FEET TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION_ OF AN ATTACHED DOUBLE f ON LOT 5, BLOCK 3, RICE CREEK PLAZA NORTH ADDITION THE SAME BEING 260-6' PLLCE N.E., FRIDLEY, MINNESOTA. REQUEST BY P.A. SCHWEPPE. 260 -69TH PLACE Mr. & Mrs. Peter Schweppe were present to present their request. They brought with them a picture of the present house and also a drawing of what the proposed garage will look like. Mr. O'Bannon: What are your neighbor's opinion toward this garage? Mr. Schweppe: I brought with me a letter from my abutting neighbors saying they do not object. MOTION by O'Bannon to accept the letter from Mr. Schweppe's neighbors. Seconded by Harris. Upon a voice vote, there being no nays, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. O'Bannon: What is the reason for going ahead two feet with the garage? Mr. Schweppe: We want to break the house line so it won't look like one long house. It would also improve the looks of the house. This plan is the only one that we can find that we like. Mr. Harris: What is the distance between the structures. Mr. Schweppe: The distance would be more than 15 feet. MOTION by O'Bannon to close the public hearing. Seconded by Harris. Upon a voice vote, there being no nays, the motion carried unanimously. MOTION by Harris to approve the request for variance from 35 feet to 33 feet for the following reasons; 1. The garage would improve the appearance of the house. 2. Also, it will line up the house and garage with the adjoining structures on Lots 6 & 7- 3. He has the concurrance of the abutting property owners. 4. This particular design best fits the existing structure. Seconded by O'Bannon. Upon a YR4`��i�p� no nays, the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDERATION OF A REQUEST FOR A SPECIAL USE PERMIT UNDER SECTION 45.12 (20) & (2 TO ALLOW THE OPERATION OF A LIGHT MANUFACTURING AND WHOLESALE ESTABLISHMENT IN A- C -2S ZONE TO BE LOCATED ON PART OF PARCEL340, AUDITOR'S SUBDIVISION N0. 9, THE SAME BEING 6205 UNIVERSITY AVENUE FRIDLEY MINNESOTA. MOON PLAZA(REQUEST BY F& A HOLDING 6225 UNIVERSITY AVENUE FRIDLEY MINNESOTA. Chairman Mittelstadt read the City Council minutes of the May 19, 1969 meeting. This item was on the agenda for that meeting and was denied by the Council. MOTION by HBrnib to close the public hearing. Seconded by O'Bannon. Upon a voice vote, there being no nays, the motion carried unanimously. MOTION by Harris to concur with the City Council's decision to deny the request. Seconded by O'Bannon.
