A final inspection was made on November 19, 1981 of the construction

a detached garage at your address. The new garage was approved
was noted that the existing attached garage has not been converted to
living area. This conversion must be started shortly and completed by
May 15, 1982. A building permit is necessary for the conversion.
An alternative to converting the attached garage to living area would be
to apply for a Special use Permit for a second accessory building and
obtain approval by the Planning Commission and the City Council.

We received a written complaint signed by a large number of your concerned
neighbors, stating that they believe that you are operating a tool
distributorship from your residence. They have supported their petition
with pictures and a log of commercial vehicles coming and going from your
residence.
The Fridley Zoning Code does permit home occupations to exist, however it
appears that your situation does not fall within the definition of a home
occupation (see enclosed section of Code) .
The City will not allow this activity to continue, therefore you must
move the business to an appropriate location that is properly zoned.
You also have not converted the tuck -under garage to living space. This
is the third letter written on this matter.
Both items are of great concern to us and your neighbors. We will not
allow either situation to continue beyond 1, 1982.

SUBJECT: FNFORME NT OF ZONING LAWS
A commercial business is operating in our residential
area, and we want it stepped.
The residents o 22 ace N. ., have what appears to be a Mac Tool
distributorship perating from their residential home. This apparent business
involves numerous shipments into our neighborhood, and to this residence, by UPS
delivery trucks, and by large semi -trucks. (Bekins, Murphy, etp.) This merchandise
is then stored in their single tuck -under garage warehouse, or their second large
detached garage, which also serves as a stocking and distribution point. Mac Tool
jobbers are then resupplied from this source, usually on weekends and sometimes
at night.
There is always at least one or two yellow and white Mac Tool trucks on the premises
and sometimes four or five. (These trucks are very unsightly in our residential

resupplying excercise creates an extremely dangerous situation and the potential
for injury exists. Putting a shop to this ridiculous situation may save a childs
life someday.
These questions arise as we view this situation.....
1. Why doesn't this party rent warehouse space in a commercial area?
2. What kind of a company is Mac Tool for condoning such residential usage?
3. Who is responsible should injury result? The resident at 225 69th Place?
The Mac Tool Company? The City of Fridley for not enforcing zoning laws?
This home recently went up for sale and we thought a confrontation over this
issue would not be necessary ........ however, the shipments are still coming and
the Mac Tool jobbers are still being resupplied....
Therefore, we the undersigned, are asking you, our elected representatives, to
enforce existing zoning laws, prevent this business from continuing and help us
keep this coammunity residential, as it once was.
