Wold. When first starting construction on the lot at 1 71-50-f-lWay in Fridley, the builder covered a portion of the side of our lot, 111 71st Way with the dirt from the hole dug for the new homes basement. It remained there for some time without any communication received from the builder. We then contacted your office at that time to discuss our options and received the builders name and address. Your office indicated they would contact the builder to inform them of our concerns. We manually removed the dirt off our sod. Next the builder met with us to discuss the situation. Since the new home elevation brought the ground level up from its original status, run off from the lot at 101 71st Way would come onto our lot. We agreed that a bobcat could be used to correct this problem in that area under the following condition. Replacement of black dirt and sod would be laid in a professional manner to the damaged areas within a reasonable time frame. We were informed that the closing of the house at 101 71st Way would occur in mid-April. The builder agreed to this arrangement. In early April the bobcat come and completd that portion of the agreement. Now our difficulties with S.W. Wold continued. The new owners of the home at 101 71st Way moved in. The end of April came without completion of the agreement. From that time on we phoned and spoke with the builders weekly to get our damaged property replaced. Promises were made by the builders but still no action. Finally, early the week of June 2, 1991; we called the building company and indicated our frustration. During this conversation it was reconfirmed with Scott that both black dirt and sod would be laid correctly that day. Arriving home we found sod without the black dirt laid poorly. Some sod was overlapping existing sod which would die as a result. A call was then placed to Scott at S.W. Wold that evening to complain of the inadequate job. Scott Wold informed us he would come and assess the work the following day. Terry stayed home from work awaiting Scott's arrival. No one from the builders company came that day or over the following days. By Sunday, June 9th, the sod laid as replacement was turning brown and dying. We realized the limited water retention of the sandy soil below played a significant role in the sods deteriation and we purchased black top soil from Malmborgs Garden Center on University and Osborne Road. The sod was pulled up, black dirt spred and sod re-laid. Monday, June 10, 1991, Terry called and spoke with an associate of S.W. Wold to indicate the work completed to save the sod. Scott's associate indicated to send them copies of the receipts. This was sent to the builders on June 13, 1991. A copy of the letter and receipts are attached for your records. In addition to this problem we had allowed the builders to use our outdoor outlet and hook up to our electricity while building the home at 101 71st Way. During that time the outlet was damaged. We conveyed this to the building company, were promised replacement without success. To date we have not received reimbursement or any response from S.W. Wold on either matter.
