This concerns Job No 824-3, Invoice No 01170, dated October 6,
1988, for bituminous repair and overlay of my driveway.
You'll recall that I hired your company upon recommendation of
the Fridley Department of Street Maintenance. You'll also recall
that the job was delayed several times during the summer; each
time I phoned for an appointment, I was told you were waiting for
a time when you'd be in the neighborhood on another job. I agreed
to this arrangement until autumn approached and I had to leave on
a six-week business trip. As it turned out, the work was done
while I was away. House sitters were here at the time.
The invoice totaled $800, and I paid $600 with a note saying,
"The balance will be forthcoming in Spring 1989, when the low spot
near one end of driveway (discussed before the job was started)
has proper drainage."
The entire job has turned out to be very unsatisfactory. The
surface is cracked and badly pitted. Sand is emerging, causing
grit to be tracked into my house and garage. Of course the low
spot remains. It looks like a job done by a fly-by-night outfit --
exactly the kind of thing I was trying to avoid by asking the
City of Fridley for advice.
The job really needsto be done over again, the proper way.
I look forward to hearing from you within a week, so that a time
can be set for this replacement.

Speed bumps are not used for municipal streets due to the safety and
drainage problems that they cause. Many motorists are unaware of speed
bumps and therefore, when they come across one, they lose control of their
vehicle or approach it at too great of speed resulting in vehicle damage
and personal injury. This problem is exasperated in the winter during the
snow plowing and ice removal operations.

as that new neighborhood develops, many families with smaller children will
be moving into it, who will share the same concerns as you have noted.
With the pavement of Riverwood Drive, the City will be installing a stop
sign at the intersection with 71st Way.

RE Riverwood Development
This is to request that the City require a traffic -slowing bump in the
new Riverwood street at a point close to the intersection with
71st Way. This intersection is sure to become a major traffic hazard.
Children, especially, will be in danger, and my home will be in the path
of cars out of control.
On June 15 I witnessed a near -collision when the driver of a car speeding
down the new street and the driver of a car speeding down 71st Way failed
to notice each other until the last moment. Two women walking a dog would
have been smashed, and my property would have been damaged.
Especially at night, speeding drivers will disregard any stop sign at this
intersection. I dread being in their trajectory.

According to Section 4715.2800 of the State Plumbing Code, a final inspection shall be
conducted on the plumbing authorized by this permit. As of this date, no inspection has been
called for.
The permit fee that was paid covers the inspections to make sure the work was completed
according to the Code. We will keep your permit open for another 30 days and if we do not hear
from you within this time to set up the inspection, we will mark the permit "no permit called
