Re: Final Inspection at 1575 -75th Avenue N.E.
Dear Sirs:
A final inspection was made on March 3, 1976 of the above address. The
following items were noted and must be completed before the construction
can be finaled Out;
1. Complete rough grading and provide sod in the front and side yards by
June 15, 1976.
2. Complete the hard surface driveway by June 15, 1976.
3. Complete front steps, garage floor, and back door steps by June 15, 1976.
4. Replace patio unit with a glazed unit that meets the Uniform Building
Code Chapter 54, section 5402 and section 5406 which state:
Sec. 5402. Each light shall bear the manufacturer's label designating
the'type and thickness of glass. Each light with special performance
characteristics such as laminated, heat -strengthened, fully tempered,
or insulated shall bear the manufacturer's identification showing the
special characteristic and thickness by etching or other permanent
identification that shall be visible after the glass is glazed.
EXCEPTION: When approved by the Building Official labels may be omitted
from other than special performance glass provided an affidavit is
furnished by the glazing contractor certifying that each light is glazed
in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
Sec. 5406. Glazing in locations which may be subject to human impact
such as frameless glass doors, glass entrance and exit doors, fixed
glass panels, sliding glass doors, shower doors, tub enclosures, and
storm doors shall meet the requirements set forth in Table No. 54-D
.or No. 54-E.
EXCEPTIONS: 1. Glass lights located not less than 18 inches above the

adjacent finished floor walking surface. 2. Glass lights when the least
dimension is no greater than 18 inches. 3. Glass lights when by comparative
tests are proven to produce equivalent performance as those set forth in
tables No. 54-D and No. 54-E.
If certification is going to be submitted it must come from the unit
manufacturer'for our approval. This patio unit must be corrected by
j April 1, 1976.

REGARDING: Reinspection of 1575 -75th Avenue N.E. and Unapproved
Patio Glass Unit
I called Tom Williams of T.E.W. Homes Incorporated regarding the
unapproved patio unit and he referred me to Phil at Scheer Brothers
Lumber Company, 339-9633. Phil told me his earlier letter
certifying the unit must have been lost in the mail. Phil assured
me that he would re -glaze the unit next week and I informed him he
had until April 22, 1976 to comply.

Re: Swimming Pool Construction at 1575 - 75th Avenue N.E.
Dear Sirs:
This letter is to make clear this department's requirements for the swimming
pool construction at the above address.
1. As indicated, two (2) skimmers approved by the National Sanitation
Foundation will be provided.
2. As indicated, three (3) inlets of approved design for fresh and/or
repurified water will be provided.
3. As indicated, a main drain of approved construction will be provided.
4. The filter and pump shall be approved by the N.S.F. and be of
sufficient capacity to provide a minimum turnover of at least two (2)
times in 24 hours. This department recommends a turnover rate of
6 - 8 hours.
5. A deck of at least three (3) feet wide, measured from the pool waters
edge, shall be provided which extends completely around all private
residential pools. Above ground private residential pools may be
provided with decking of a -minimum size of 4 feet by- 4 feet at pool
entry points and provided that such decking has the approval of the City.
6. The diving area will be acceptable provided there is no overhead
obstruction.
7. Fencing or other effective means including but not limited to walls
or buildings, acceptable to the City, shall be provided to positively
control all access to public and private residential swimming pools.
Fencing shall meet the following criteria:
(a) The fencing shall prevent the entrance of children and be without
hand or foot holds that would enable a person to climb over it.
(b) The fencing shall be at least 6 feet high and entrances shall be
equipped with self-closing and self -latching gates capable of
being locked.
(c) Self-closing and self -latching devices shall be placed at the top
of the gate or otherwise inaccessible to small children.
(d) The opening between the bottom of the fence and the ground or
other surface shall be not more than four inches.
8. An automatic chlorinator should be provided with a suitable test kit.
9. All electrical and plumbing installations shall be inspected and
approved by the City Inspection Department.

10. All electrical lines must be greater than 15 feet away from the pool
surface. An alternative is to bury said lines.
11. The pool fill spout must be protected by a vacuum breaker or ai.r-gapped.
12. Suitable.sa.fety equipment to include but not limited to a ring buoy
and rope that is l'i times the pool diameter, and shepherds crook pole
must be provided and maintained with the pool at all times.
Furthermore, these and any other requirements must meet the provisions of
the Fridley City Code, Section 115, Swimming Pools. The building permit is
approved contingent on.final inspections and approval by the City.
