Call to Order:
Chairman Mark Hansencalled the meeting to order at 7:03p.m.

MOTION TO APPROVE MINUTES
Commissioner Westby andmadethe motion to approvethe minutes, which was seconded by Commissioner
Velin,andthe minutes passed on a unanimous vote.
New Business
City of Fridley Water Supply Plan, guest speaker Jim Kosluchar, Public Works Director
Handouts to accompany Mr. Kosluchar’s presentation on the Fridley Water Supply Plan will be uploaded as a
separate item to accompany these minutes.The Water Supply plan itself, as presented at this EQEC meeting
will be located on the Comprehensive Planning page of the City of Fridley website.
Updates on Commissioner opening
The City Council will be selecting two members of the three applicants. Former Environmental Quality
Commissioner Courtney Elford indicated her willingness to serve another term and if not selected at this time,
may work on EQEC topics until future openings occur. The other two candidates, Heidi Ferris and Nick
Olberding, have been frequent guests and contributors to the meetings over the last year.
GreenStep Cities Complete Streets information.
This topic was tabled due to a lack of time. Commissioners will take up this topic at a future meeting, in
conjunction with Osborne Rd. and Mississippi St. discussions and Safe Routes to School.
Old Business
Completion of tree wrapping at Commons Park (north and west sides), finding volunteers.
Students from the Fridley Moore Lake Learning Center, accompanied by supervisors, wrapped and winter
pruned the trees along the south parking lot of Commons Park in late November.
Overview of tree planting and tree care grants and activities for 2016, planning for 2017.
The Arbor Day ceremony will include plantings of container and bare root trees for 2017 and be held on

, likely near 73Ave. and the Melody Manor neighborhood may be included.The
Saturday, April 22
Department of Natural Resources LCCMR grant continues through May of 2018 with bare root and container
trees provided if planted by volunteers.
