City Fire Report (2) CITY OF FRIDLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT NOTICE OF BUILDING FIRE To: Building Inspection City Manager Community Development Police Department From: John Berg Date: July 14, 2014 Subject: Fire Damaged Building Location of Fire: 7306 Baker Street Date of Fire: July 13, 2014 Firefighters responded to a fire in a manufactured home which was contained to the Kitchen. The ceiling in the kitchen was opened to check for fire extension. There was some extension into the area where the roof meets the wall structure. The cabinets above and below the gas range top burned and the gas meter has been locked out by CenterPoint Energy. One of the occupants suffered a very minor injury and was treated and released by Allina. The fire was determined to be accidental. The home owner put oil on the range to heat up and went to use the bathroom. When he returned the cabinets were on fire. Neighbors helped to control the fire with fire extinguishers. Anoka County Central Communications accidentally called an "Automatic Aid" which notified SBM, Columbia Heights and St Anthony. Fridley sent eighteen firefighters in seven different vehicles. The home appears to be in a very poor state of maintenance. The floors are sagging and appear to be rotting in places. There is a mouse infestation and no smoke detectors. I'm sure if you look closer there is a lot more. The property owner is a very angry man and was very challenging for police fire and the paramedics on scene. He refused assistance from Red Cross and said he would stay in a hotel. If you have questions concerning this fire, please contact me at x3610.
