Firefighters responded to a fire in a vacant manufactured home in Fridley Terrace at 12:24
am. The home was almost completely involved in fire when the first police officer arrived. The
fire damaged two additional homes melting vinyl siding and in one case damaging the gas
meter. Firefighters had difficulty reaching a fire hydrant and with assistance from police
officers cut a hole in the fence to reach a hydrant on 73rd Avenue. One firefighter was
evaluated by Allina and released after becoming dizzy. CenterPoint removed gas meters and
capped gas lines on two homes.
Assistant Chief Kohner worked with the Anoka County Fire Investigation Team and
determined the most likely cause of the fire is arson. The property was posted with arson
reward signs and the investigation will continue today. WCCO and KARE 11 covered the story
this morning.
