River Road Fridley, Minnesota 55421 Hear Mrs. Johnson. This letter will enumerate the deficiencies pertaining to the sanitary facilities and the physical plant noted during a visit February 1, 1969 by Mr. Harvey McPhee of the Fridley Health Department and Mr. Lowell Boa of thio Department. Tha comments and recommendations for correction of the deficiencies noted by Mr. Boa during the visit are enumerated below: 1. The non -slip treads on the stairway to the basemant should be replaced. 2. The North entrance threshold approach and the floor access panels in the corridor should be provided with surfaces which are smooth and cleanable. 3. The roof should be repaired. The ceilings and walls which are water stained should be resurfaced. 4. The ceramic the pedestals in the tub rooms should be repaired. 5. Walls and ceilings which are cracked; paint which is peeling; wall paper which is loose and the which is cracked or missing should ba.rapaired so as to provide smooth and easily cleanable surfaces. G. The mechanical exhaust vents in the tubrooms and toil&L rooms should be repaired and maintained in quiet operating condition. 7. The electric wall switches which control the mechanical exhaust vants in the toilet rooms and bathing areas should be repaired. 6. The basic housekeeping practices as applied to cleanliness of toilet room and bathroom floors should be improved. 9. Off-tha-floor storage should be maintained in all storage areas. Storage areas should be maintained in a clean, ordarly condition at 311 times. 10. Covers should be provided for all of the water closet flush tanks. 1:1. The small stepladder in the clean linen storage room should he replaced. 13. The janitor's closets should be thoroughly cleaned and maintained in a sanitary, orderly condition at all times. The wood shelving in the main janitor's closet should be replaced. 14. All fire exit doors and walkways should be maintained in an ice - free, serviceable condition at all times. 15. Cleanable hampers should be provided for off -the -floor collection, storage, and sorting of soiled linen in tha soiled linen :ollection rooms. 16. The laundry chute should be thoroughly cleaned and disin'ected on a routine schedule. 17. The basic housekeeping practices as applied to the general cleanliness of the laundry and equipment should be improved. 188 An adequate supply of hot water at 140'-`F. to 1600F. shiuld be provided for the washing of resident clothing in the laundry. At the time of the vIFAt this water temperature was 114"F. 19. Durably easily cleanable, covered refuse containers should be provided in the soiled utility roams and the janitor's closets. 20, Tha juncture batween the ceramic the mop board and the tile floors in the bath and toilet moms should be regrouted to providn smooth and easily cleanable :surfaces. 23. The use of the large soiled utility room as a laboratory should be discontinued. The soiled utility roam should be used exclusively as a soiled utility room.
