Crystal Klanderud at 61015th St NE called me on 1/31j13 about higher bills since new AMR installed in 8/2011. I can see the consumption had gone from teens on old meter and 24-51 on new meter. She said they got a water softener installed around the same time as the new meter,so I wondered if it had been set to go off too often,or if they've developed a running toilet. I also told her the old water meter could have just been registering lower&that now is correct consumption. They have 4 persons here, 2 toilets and a softener. I asked her to check the toilets and told her how to do the dye tablet thing and also have the softener checked. I also asked if they watered much this summer;she said a little and they watered into October. The consumption had dropped some in the fall; between 9/3U thru 12/31 but was still high. Today I asked her again about how much they watered and she said they got a pile of dirt in the fall and they probably did water more after that. She called again today to say she had the same plumber who installed the water softener come check for leaks&to be sure the softener was set up ok. He faund nothing wrong anywhere and told her to call and have us check the meter to be sure it's registering correctly. To begin with I had Pete go scan a current meter reading today to see if consumption is lower now that its winter. It showed they used 21 tgals in about 38 days. This prorates out to about 50 tgals in a quarter if they stay an that track. Again very high. l have told her if we test the meter and it's�ne we would charge her for the test and the new AMR, but do we want to go that far? t'm tempted to have her still do dye test on toilets since that problem can be intermittent and I'm not sure how the plumber can tell if that happens. What do you think? Would you want to talk to her to see what you can find out? Her phone#is 612-303-7165.
