On July 9, 1986, the Planning Commission reviewed Walter Rasmussen's request for a Special Use Permit #86-08 for a second accessory garage of 840 sq.ft. , and unanimously approved the S.U.P. with no stipulations. City Code allows up to 1400 sq. ft. for all accessory buildings. The total square footage of both Mr. Rasmussen's existing and proposed accessory buildings would be approximately 1,646 sq. ft. Although this exceeds the code allotment, the total lot area is very large, exceeding '38,000 sq.ft. In addition, the total lot coverage with the new garage is slightly less than 9%. Code allows for 25% building coverage. In reviewing and acting on the S.U.P. , Council should recognize the slight variance, ie: 1,649 sq.ft. vs. 1,400 sq.ft. for all accessory buildings.
