The primary species of concern are European Buckthorn and Glossy Buckthorn, a tree/shrub which will grow densely and outcompete native species if left unchecked. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Conservation Partners Legacy Grant program accepts applications for habitat improvement projects on public lands. With a long history of work at both sites, Craig Andresen of Natural Resources Restoration (NRR), has recommended a restoration plan to remove invasive species and promote growth of native species through prescribed fire including portions of both SNC and WMLSDNHA. form of in-kind labor, we would like to submit the grant request in the amount of $37,000 with a match of $4,200 with Natural Resources Restoration indicated as a sole source vendor for the th project. The grant deadline is September 24 at 4:00 pm and the restoration activities would take place between the fall of 2018 and the spring of 2021. RECCOMENDATION: I recommend that the Fridley Parks and Recreation Commission provide a motion of support for the application of a grant request to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Conservation Partners Legacy Grant Program in the amount of $37,000 with a match pledge of $4,200 to be donated in kind by NRR.
