RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF TOWARD ZERO
DEATHS (TZD) ENFORCEMENT GRANT AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley recognizes the importance of the safe and efficient movement of
traffic in and through the community;
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley Police Department works to improve the safe and efficient
movement of traffic through education and enforcement;
WHEREAS, in recognition of adverse impact on lives and property resulting from impaired or
negligent driving, and the non-use of seat belts, the State of Minnesota, Minnesota Department
of Public Safety, and the Office of Traffic Safety, have developed the Toward Zero Deaths
(TZD) Enforcement Program to fund traffic safety education and enforcement;
WHEREAS the County of Anoka has proposed participation in the education and Enforcement
of the Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Fridley Police Department enter into a grant
agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, for traffic safety enforcement
projects during the period from October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019.
Be IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Chief of Police or his designee is hereby authorized to
execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of
the City of Fridley Police Department and to be the fiscal agent and administer the grant.
